I'm currently having problems downloading the new version for Android. It keeps getting to about 700 MB in before abruptly stopping and telling me that it's forbidden even with all of my device's protections off and through different download managers. I'm now down 3.5 GB of data trying and failing to download it, some help would be appreciated.
I'm sorry, it might be a connection thing that's falsely blaming it on it being forbidden. I've seen that happen before where it just won't download and then later on it simply does. Or you could try downloading through the Itch app if you haven't used that, or downloading directly from the webpage if you were using the Itch app.
I believe the dlc download will create a folder without the necessary rpa file? it's seems to be entirely empty actually. At least on mac anyway! I wonder if that might be the problem people are so commonly running into? Though I'm not the most tech savvy so I could've done something wrong on my end^^;;
Edit just download the dlc from the itch website instead of the app and put the file in the game urself and it should work fine! I managed to figure it out anyway eheh
If I decide to install a DLC later on, will I need to redownload this? I plan on getting the DLCs at a later date but I felt like downloading the names first.
I was unsure where the file went so I tried downloading Our Life 2. Apparently it goes to some where called /home/minju/.config/itch/apps but I am unsure where to find the folder.
hello! I've only just discovered this game and am very excited to play, however I'm having trouble installing the dlc on my MacBook. I've read through the introductions quite a few times and I'm fairly certain that I've done it properly, any suggestions on how to fix this?
Just want to say this. This game made me feel stuff I haven't felt in over a decade. So thank you so much for making this beautiful game.. no experience. It made me feel extremely sad, happy, and everything in between.
I feel like im being such an inconvenience for asking, but is there any way someone can send a video tut for windows? When i try, it says that the rpa file and the game folder are compressing, but it does nothing? Still going to play if i cant find a way, but its just a bummer :((
Did you unzip the main Our Life folder using something like Winzip or another extractor before you tried adding the rpa? The rpa doesn't need anything changed about the file, it just needs to be dragged and dropped into the game folder. But the main game is a compressed file when first downloaded and needs to be unzipped first before it can be used.
Having some difficulties with downloading.... :(( (Using the itch app on windows) I go to press 'Install' and it doesn't work, saying "An error occurred during installation No manager for installer unknown"
:( for some reason when i play the game i can't hear music or audio. i opened the file with the unarchive, but usually that lets me hear audio, im not sure what's wrong ;-;
Can you show me what your Our Life folder looks like if you're using Mac or PC? If you're on Android, make sure to redownload the main game after installing the DLC.
I followed the instruction but my game crashes and this is the error message:

The info is doubled for some reason. Do you have any extra files somewhere? It might be best to delete the game and DLCs, and check that you don't have multiple versions of the file. When you're sure there's nothing else, you can download the game/DLC again to make sure everything is there just once. Deleting the build/files won't mean your progress/saves are deleted, they'll still be there when you get the game back.

Did you redownload the base game? Downloading a DLC will open the DLC file that registers the DLC but isn't playable. To play the game, that has to be the most recent thing you downloaded.
Then it's possible the updated files have gotten the attention of your virus scanner and it's blocking the game. Every time there's an update at least a few people end up having the game be falsely labeled as dangerous because each time new content is added there's a new chance for that to happen. Or it could be that the install had an error and trying again now that a little time has passed will have it install alright and be playable.
I'm sorry to say that we're no longer adding new names for this project. And only Cove has voiced names, they don't apply to Derek or Baxter or any other character. But when it comes to Cove, it does work in all four Steps.
It fixed some issues people had with the overall game since we changed the way Android versions were installed. If you're having no problems, you don't need to worry about it!

Genuinely sweet and well-crafted game! Cove is so sweet and interesting so I was delighted to see how he grew as the game progressed. I haven't played any of the DLCs yet but I definitely will be coming back to see those eventually. Got me way more emotional than I thought it would too, some really good stuff in here about change and growing up. So good!

Like what rpa file do I download and how do I move on from there as there is no where that I've seen shows where I'd get a file that has a rpa indexation. Like I downloaded the android version like it said and when the instructions said to download a rpa file and seeing the one I downloaded had a different thing in it's name I was thrown into a loop as to what that file was or where it was. Like is it a whole other thing or is it a file within this website?
I would love to play it on mobile as it's one of my favorite, so I'd like to understand how to do so. Please and thank for your time
The rpa, or rpy if you had the older version, is downloaded on this page. Then you just put it in the "game" folder of Our Life. If you're having trouble getting the file to download, maybe your Android doesn't trust the file. If you're having trouble knowing how to add the file to the game, there's a more detailed guide posted in the past by omniastarr-
These steps worked for me and at least one other user on here (I have a samsung s10. Also, I know there are a lot of steps, but it took me less than 5 minutes):
1. Download the base game from itch.io (this is an .apk file)
2. Download the DLC(s) you purchased (these are .rpa files)
3. Download and install Amaze File Manager from the Play Store
4. Install the base game by clicking on the .apk file and following the prompts to install
5. Open the Amaze app and follow the prompts to allow access to your files, as well as grant "All files access" (clicking Grant will take you to the Settings location, but you'll have to find Amaze in the list, click on its name, and toggle "Allow access to all files" on)
6. Once that setting is toggled on, go back to Amaze and find your Downloads folder there. Inside should be all your .rpa files.
7. Long press on the first .rpa file you want to install and then click on the rest. All of them should be highlighted before the next step.
8. Once highlighted, click on the copy button (an icon of two rectangles in front of each other) at the top of the app
9. Navigate to your Android folder within the Amaze app, then the data folder inside of it. You might have to allow another access prompt here.
10. Scroll down to the "ourlife.demo.apk" file and click on it, then the "files" file inside.
11. At the top of the app, there should be a new folder button (picture of a folder with a +). Click that and make a new folder called "game".

Thanks for the help but I did have trouble understanding if I had to paste the copy files into the data file and if so then there might be a problem as I get an error when trying to do so sadly. And I when I look back I don't see the file at all in the data files. So I'm just a bit confused about that step, I think it was step 9 to 10. But if this is error is just because of my phone then that sucks butt but thank you for helping 👍🏼

You don't need to purchase the Voiced Name DLC. You just take the .rpa file downloaded from this page and put it into the Our Life "game folder" that you get from the main Our Life: Beginnings and Always page! Also, don't use the Itch app to download the DLC, that doesn't seem to work for people. It's best to download directly from the website.

Sorry for the inconvenience but I dont know if its just my phone being dumb or something, but it won't let me edit the game files to add in the dlcs- every time i tap the file it asks if i want to open the app, even when i have the dlcs copied and ready to move. I have a galaxy note 10 if that helps with anything, and i also want to add i've downloaded multiple types of file managers/apk editors and nothing worked- i'm not very savvy when it comes to this sort of thing, though, so I may be just doing something wrong?

Are you trying to download through the Itch app? Sometimes that doesn't work and you need to use the direct webpage.

hm I did try deleting the game and starting over, but I didn't try re downloading the game and dlc.

So, I downloaded the game to use on android and installed it, making sure to close it before adding the voiced names dlc.
Got the rpa, went to my file manager, Android, Data
And that's it-
There's no subfolders within there.
I don't think I can add the dlc if the game folder doesn't somehow exist...
If it somehow matters, running Android 12 One UI 4.1 on Samsung Galaxy S10 Ultra 5G
So apparently I can't access the contents of this folder using samsung's own file browser, *despite* enabling the option to see hidden system files
Using amaze file browser helped me get around this
