Because I'm bored and I have not been in here for a little while, here's some angsty lore about my Mc's! Step 1 (mostly)
Berryl : Before moving to the smaller town of G.G, she used to get really overstimulated near her city's road with loud engines, explains why she was so quiet during steps 1, but beginning to get more comfy during other steps, but sometimes will relapse when something is too loud and it triggers her back into when she was in the city.
Noki : Lived near a beach where there's also a dense forest, being the black sheep of his entire friend group, he was once abandoned in the woods by them until the sun set down, and eventually his mama found him quivering and cold, sitting next to his shiny eevee plushie. He still holds onto it to this day, and the memories still linger in the back of his head even until adulthood, but looking back to it as he got older, he'd always wished he could comfort his younger youth.
Khaoi : 'Weird bug kid.' Is always familiar to him, both in a sad, but sort of happy way? He doesn't really know, he'd collect little bugs, make a little enclosure for them using the plastic boxes his mommy always got him and show some of them off to his friends, which were met with faces of pure disgust, annoyance, and ignorance. But that didn't affect him! .. Maybe a little. As much as he'd like to pretend he'll be alright, he just couldn't bare the thought of being alone. The reason why he covers his eyes, is because he can't fit in with the rest of his group, he sticks out like a sore thumb most of the time, and that's why kids his age tend to avoid him.

I have another question, it's related to the mass mc drawing I'm doing. I want to draw my mcs interacting with yours, but, I don't want to mischaracterize them. Also I'm practicing more expressions, so yeah.
You can yap, and how do you think your mcs would interact with mine?
For reference, Xipil will not talk to anyone. She can talk, and used to ramble, but due to past bullying incidents (the scar on her cheek, the bullies wanted to get her to shut up), she has opted to go mute. She is very polite, and shows it through actions. The only way she makes friends is with her special rock collection, dubbed "Frienship Rocks". She got this from penguins, since that's how they court. But she doesn't know this and thought that's how they made friends. So if she gives you a rock, she wants to be your friend.
Metztli is very confident and is actually pretty serious. Befriending her is kind of hard because she's not used to people wanting to be her friend. She's very blunt too, and her need to be perfect gets in the way of her actually being nice. But if you're her friend, she will be very protective of you.
Quetzalli is very flighty. She will often run away or freeze, purely because she doesn't know how to speak to people. Like Xipil, she was made fun of for wanting to be a captain, and her rants on ships. It's worse if she finds someone pretty/handsome, because she knows she's awkward and doesn't want to embarrass herself in front of them. If you were to attempt to talk to her, just hand her something she can fidget with (like a stick), and she'll stay and let you talk to her. Just don't mind her slight stutter and frantic nods, she's trying her best to speak. She'll also squeak when caught off guard, but if you're friend, she'll refer to you as first mate.
Bacon is kind of the opposite of your mc’s he’s extremely extroverted and friendly.. So he would likely be able to get along with Xipil even if she doesn’t talk much as he doesn’t really mind. He could likely get along with Metztli if they realized that because of his mental disabilities, he likely doesn’t mean her any harm. Quetzalli on the other hand, would be completely overwhelmed by him.
Sin is can definitely get along with Xipil, they’re no stranger to befriending quiet kids, and would definitely step in to do the talking for her. Sin may be outgoing but they do know how to dial their energy back so they’d likely act more calmly around Queztalli and act kind of like a kind big sibling. Sin is a master at understanding people. They’d probably faili to talk to Metztli several time, before she realized that Sin actually wants to be friends.
Kathryne, doesn’t start any conversations herself until step 3 due to not speaking English. She and Xipil would likely have to be introduced by Qiu and Tamarack and it would be very awkward. I feel like they’d get along though, even if they never speak. She and Metztli could probably be friends, I’d feel like Metztli would start talking to KitKat and overtime, they become friends, even if Kathryne can’t tell her that. Xipil and KitKat would have a very awkward relationship, Kathryne would probably scare her off at first due to her cold nature. But Quetzalli would likely start ranting about ships one day when she sees a picture of Kathryne from when she was still in Greenland since nearly all towns are along the coast.
Zephyr is kinda adaptable so he would be awkward with Xipil but still give a slight smile and guide the conversation as long as Xipil is comfortable with it ( while hoping someone they're both friends with comes by).
With Metztli I feel like he'd ask just the right question to make her rant about something while nodding and open smiling.
And with Quetzalli he'd probably give her a candy or some snack, maybe sit in silence afterwards until he asks to play something.
For El, he doesn't talk directly to whoever it is during first meetings until he finds them somewhat trustable. After that he's kinda like a comfort friend, anyone can lean on him (shorty) and he doesn't mind being left out of conversation as long as he's present.
YAYAYAY!!! Ive been WAITING to explore their dynamics so please correct me if i accidentally mischaracterize any of your MC’s!

- Xipil: It’d be a slowburn friendship to me! Specially cos Runie is so wary of his strength (he has abnormal strength.. like Shizuo Heiwajima strength) that in Step 1 and Step 2 he doesnt wanna scare Xipil away, so this would be another Runie Shield moment(tm) where Runie early on in Step 1 would just protect Xipil from anything dangerous and likes her (platonically) from afar. In late Step 2 I believe he’d work up the courage to talk to her.
It’ll start as an awkward friendship at first but once they slowly get to learn about each other more and bond (ALSO they get to bond over getting bullied so early on in their childhood which makes my heart ache 💔💔)
Their dynamic in a nutshell: Soft Stronk and Soft Sweet
- Metztli: Runie would come to respect and admire her but they wouldnt become realllyyy close. Maybe like, more than acquaintances but less than friends. He really admires Metztli’s attitude (he doesnt know abt her perfectionism) and sometimes will just give her random baked goods if he made too much. (Runie kinda feels a littleee intimidated by her so thats one of the reasons hes hesitant to talk to her skxnnsnd)
- Quetzalli: Oh Runie would LOVE to be part of her crew! You know that Markiplier jingle jangle clip? Id like to think thats how he made friends with her when they first met 😭 Runie lets her rant about her interests about being a Captain and her endless knowledge of ships even if he sometimes doesnt have a clue and gets confused but does his best.. even if he says something completely stupid and remembers the names of the ships wrong 😭😭
Id also like to think that whenever they go to the beach to hang out or go on a boat ride, Runie would prepare batches of treats that are marine themed and give them to Quetzalli so they can eat it together :’3
NOW ONTO KANRA!! She may be a bit difficult to get along with so.. most of them will either end in slowburn or strangers 🥲

- Xipil: actually,, gets really interested with the friendship rocks thing that she does, prompting her to research about penguins, ended up liking that animal, and now studying Xipil because thats the closest thing to a penguin shes got.
She starts interacting with her. Not, like, in the traditional sense. But more like she sits next to her quietly as she reads or writes in her notebook, she chooses to spend time nearby Xipil or Metztli because she finds both of them interesting and not too annoying for her (in her terms)
I feel like she’d feel calm enough with Xipil that she tries to learn social cues and not be rude TwT.
- Metztli: Kanra would actively try and try to set her off 💔 she absolutely loves breaking down peoples facades so I dont think Metztli would honestly like her because of how manipulative and invasive she is. Unfortunately though I think Kanra would still do it for her studies and for her own personal interests. (See: her having subclinical Psychopathy and has a hobby of trying to gauge out peoples emotions and reactions because she can only feel emotions but its very muted.)
So im SO sorry Metztli but I think Kanra would still continue to do this to her all the way through Step 1 to Step 4 😭😭 (is this her way of making friends? Probably yes. Does she realise its rude and its offensive to Metztli? Nope not a clue)
- Quetzalli: Surprisingly I think with a bit of time and effort I think Kanra would come to like her. With Kanra’s fixation on sharks she wouldnt mind being a part of her crew. Although she’d probably get scolded by Runie if she starts being a bit mean and manipulative with Quetzalli which would in turn make Kanra learn more on social nuances and boundaries. I think theyd be friends in the middle of Step 2. And if they were, their dynamic would be the talker x listener because even though Kanra isnt good at talking, shes an amazing listener as well and can honestly have a whole 4 hour debate and conversation with Quetzalli about marine life and ships (she’d also learn more about ships for her. Kanra would never admit that she did it for her though LOL)
You gave me diabetes. But for real, you didn't mischaracterize them at all! I love how each of them have different interactions, and their dynamics too! The jingle jangle markiplier clip is now confirmed to be how Quetzalli became friends with Runie. Thank you for the wonderful drawing ideas too, by the way. AND SPEAKING OF RUNIE AND KANRA, I drew them. I sincerely hope I did it right, but I might post it later when it's complete. Also sorry about the yap and potential mischaracterize of your mcs, but here's how I think Xipil, Metztli, and Quetzalli would respond. Let me know if I need to correct anything!
Xipil would actually think Runie was cool, and be a bit confused with Kanra. But she'd definitely give them rocks to be their friend. She does eventually talk to him first, but she's so nervous it comes out soft. But once she realizes he's been bullied, she gets mad because she thinks he's a cool person and doesn't deserve it (he doesn't). For Kanra, Xipil would probably think Kanra likes rocks, so she'll constantly return with geodes and gems. But Xipil does dig holes in her front yard to find more. So it's like she's part mole too, because somehow she'll always find a way to dig deep. Sometimes it's awkward because she'll just pop out of a hole with rocks and covered in dirt with a blank look on her face.
Quetzalli would immediately try and get them hats too, explaining that they're very important crew mates. She'll make sure the crew mascot is a shark, and she definitely wouldn't mind if Runie got confused. She herself gets confused too, but she wouldn't notice Kanra being mean. Only when Runie points it out, but even then she forgives Kanra because despite going through so much, she can't hate Kanra. She doesn't think it's right, so she learns to sew shark plushes for her. She would consider them her best friends, because eventually she realizes that there's people who do like when she yaps. She would also ask Runie to teach her how to bake so she could give him stuff in return.
Metztli would slightly look at Runie confused, but she definitely makes him bracelets. She hopes she can try and reassure that she's nice, but she would genuinely care (platonically). She would a hundred percent insult people mean to Runie and Kanra. Metztli would make Kanra jewelry, but huff a bit. She eventually gets a bit used to it.

what would you guys’ MCs (and/or non-MCs) relationship be with my MCs?? (Kojo and Yu-Ming)
Some basic explanations abt them per step if you do not know my characters well!:
pre-step 1 Kojo is a nice, energetic, and pretty friendly person! He however can get very protective and angry about his friends and doesn’t hesitate to fight people older than him. He is born in Melbourne, Australia and moved to Compton, California at 6 before finally moving to Golden Grove, Oregon 🙏 In Step 1 he’s still the same, however he is a little bit of grump because he had to move again. He also toned down on the aggressiveness, keeping it to thoughts. In Step 2 Kojo goes through depression and his undiagnosed autism gets a bit much with him heavily masking when getting to middle school and onwards, his past aggressive tendencies are also coming back alongs side an apathetic aside with borderline sociopathic behaviour 💔💔 he gets into fights (outside of school, since he’s vice-president and really likes that position) and kind of gets a rep of being cold, stoic, blunt and spunky. If you get to know him, he’s quite the sweetheart however! You do need to tell him you consider him a friend because, yk… social cues ain’t his specialty 💔 He has a knack for writing poems and making music to process his emotions (some poems and lyrics therefore might be a lil explicit and disturbing 😓😓) He also likes to learn different languages and would probably learn your MC’s native language in a way of showing affection. In step 3 he is still processing some shit that happened in step 2, but is doing miles better 🙏🙏 he still has all the problematic tendencies and apathetic personality but finds himself to blend in with others pretty well! He has always been blunt, and still is. He is still uncaring and cold but hides it pretty well behind faux interest 😒😒 he does hold absolute interest and love towards people he actually likes, and tries to hold his attention to them the best he can! (he’s trying) He also plays two instruments now; the violin and the bass guitar! He likes to sing too, but like, he’s a little shy 😓😓 In his free time he loves to play his instruments, study psychology and human behaviour + biology bcs he’s lowk a bit of a loser and still doesn’t really understand all the social cues stuff, and read & write. In step 4 i guess he’d be a little less apathetic?? he still very much is but he’s a bit less blunt and ‘rude’ as others would call him.
Yu-Ming on the other hand is a very sweet girl! She’s a darling and loves bugs and animals! Pre step 1, she lives in China (idk where yet) until 7 before moving to Texas! Yu-Ming already learned a little English back in China but is a fast learner and becomes pretty fluid quickly. She loves to make friends and is very extroverted 🫶🏽🫶🏽 In step 1 this is all still the same, she also develops a love for the forest and all the plants and stuff there. In step 2 she’s still extroverted, but also doesn’t mind having a few less friends rather than a big crowd of people. She likes to bake and make treats for the people dear to her 🙁❤️ she is a polar opposite of Kojo and very empathetic, and would probably drop everything to make sure your Mc’s alright if they’re hurt or going through something. No need to be close or seen as ‘important’ or even ‘valuable’ like Kojo. In step 3 she’s still a lovely bug 💗💗 she’s honestly the same as her step 2 self but a bit less selfless. She has learned to let herself have some things too and has achieved a nice balance of such. In her free time she likes to read and help around. She’s actually quite buff, with visible muscles in her arms and visible abs if she wears a tighter shirt! In step 4 this continues and yeah, that’s it.
BLYTHE AND YU-MING WOULD SOO BE GREAT FRIENDS!! like, they could meet at ANY given step and STILL be good friends in any of them! Blythe is usually (or more like ALWAYS) very hyperactive and energetic most of the time.. but there's a list of people that she acts "normal" around and the people in that list are COMPLETELY RANDOM. but yu-ming and kojo are in that list lmao.
With Kojo, Blythe would probably also be either friends or is friendly with him (as she is with everyone lol). If they met in Step 2 though, Blythe might see Kojo as somewhat intimidating because of his position and reputation, but still be friendly towards him!
YU-MING AND BLYTHE MY DEARS 🙁💗 idk much about blythe but i feel like they’d be adorbs with one another ❤️❤️
Kojo would, in my mind, actually like Blythe a bit! as long as she isn’t overly energetic around him (he has a shit social battery and also sensitive to like… chaos?? idk how to word it he just doesn’t like people being everywhere all at once around him) idk if blythe is of any non american ethnicity but she’d definitely be someone he’d learn a language for 🤞🏽🤞🏽
Bacon and Kojo probably wouldn’t be friends until step 2 when Kojo would be able to recognize some of the same autistic tendencies he has in Bacon. I feel like he’d get along with Yu-Ming just fine through. I imagine she would kinda treat him like a little kid which is how most people treat him in steps 1-3.
I feel like Sin and Kojo would probably be good friends, their personalities are opposite but they both have the same hatred for bullies. Sin and Yu-Ming would either be a power duo or a recipient for disaster. Sin also tends to put other’s needs before their own too much so the two would be constantly worried for each other without taking care of themselves.
KitKat and Kojo likely wouldn’t get along, they both have the same cold, blunt, and uninterested attitude which I don’t think would mix well. Yu-Ming would also likely annoy KitKat for a while after they first meet because she doesn’t like social activity. Also, even though she’s blind, she doesn’t like people being super worried about her. It makes her feel like she’s being treated like a baby. They would likely get along after a while though.
I like all these dynamics! But i fear you may have interpreted Yu-Ming’s kindness for babying/pitying 😭😭 none of my MCs would ever baby someone other than, well, a baby … as someone who has been babied most of my life due to physical disabilities and such (and still am), i absolutely hate it and would never ever make my MCs do such 🫶🏽🫶🏽 Yu-Ming would still be kind to Bacon and Kath, but never baby. She knows where the limit is and would probably ask either of them what they prefer in terms of helping/caring and such. If she knows Kathryne can handle herself most of the time if not all time she’ll leave her do her thing! ❤️
Oh I gotcha, I misinterpreted it with Bacon but I didn’t actually mean she’d baby KitKat. I just meant that Kathryne just doesn’t like to be the center of attention and is stubborn to a fault, so having people worry about her or help her do things, even if she actually needs their help, feels condescending to her when it’s really not.
Mari would be terrified of Kojo 😭 Well, in step 2 at least. I think she wouldn't mind having him around in step 1-3-4. But Mari and he could get along in step 2 if they started talking to each other by some miracle. As for Yu-Ming, get ready for the special "I don't know that I have a puppy crush" SPECIAL!!! She'd get along in all steps, though she'd be unnerved in step 2 due to her friendly personality (trust issues dearie 😔). I think they'd be friends basically, maybe lovers, but we'd be slow burning like requiemduo. Either way, she's gonna be compliant with both of them because they could both break her arm 👍
Kel would be kind of unnerved by Kojo, but not enough to try and talk to him (and be a little annoying), they would be acquaintances in step 1 due to Kojo's grumpiness and Kel's somewhat cold nature with strangers. Other than that, they could get along on the other steps. As for Yu Ming, yeah, they'd get along, even in step 1. Natural besties over here 🙏. He'd have a little puppy crush on both of them, as he does with most of his friends.
Elias is well, same as Mari. Utterly terrified of Kojo. But at the same time, he trusts him due to his position as Vice President, and they MIGHT be able to get along in Step 3-4 if someone introduced them or something. However, they won't get along in Step 1 due to Elias being a bitter boy and stuff. For Yu Ming, yeah, she's looking out for that dude. They might not be able to get along in Step one, BUT Yu Ming would make sure Elias was ok, and healthy :3

- OH MY GOD THEEEE BAKING DUO FRFR 😭😭😭 Even though they have kinda the same personality that can bounce off eachother well id like to think they get close at around Step 2 because Runie would be more inclined to feel comfortable around her (and they get off well when they find out in a baking class maybe that theyre both really REALLLY talented in that)

- sadly i think she’d find her a bit boring and doesnt make any attempts to befriend her. Shes polite to her though! She respects Yu-Mings kindness and, surprisingly, doesnt make fun or be unintentionally mean about that. Kanra may piss people off sometimes but shes not a monster 😭😭 even SHE gets affected by the Yu-Ming effect (even if she doesnt befriend her wjdnsnsbsn)
Kojo when he walks into the kitchen and sees three wedding type cakes with Runie and Yu-Ming just standing there all proud like: ‘Ko, look we made a few cakes! pretty easy tbh, we might make some french pastries next!! 😊😊’
Yu-Ming and Kanra 😭😭💗💗 I feel like Yu-Ming would bake snacks and stuff for her just bcs she can 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️ maybe have a small crush on her too (she WILL make little treats with her in mind 🤭)

YESS ITS THE QUESTION im gonna answer for Yuming since we talked about dynamics w kojo he's canonically yapping with Fio about mythology and doing brother dynamic stuff with Judy now 😼
i want to start with Fio and Yuming CAUSE THEY'D GET SO ALONG RAHHH ESPECIALLY BECAUSE OF BUGS Fio is also an insect nerd and would kill for any chance to yap about them already so i think they'd approach the same bug (if Yuming likes randomly examining them too), bump into eachother, go "YOU TOO!!??" and form a lifetime friendship on the spot. just this in all steps they yap about bugs together, make friendship bracelets, Fio trusts her enough to hide behind her when a butterfly shows up etc . THEIR CHARACTERS JUST GENERALLY FIT SO MUCH I THINK FIO WOULD INSTANTLY FEEL SAFE WITH HER 😭🫶
and she's having a strong bond with Jude too!! sweet extroverted people are one of his favorite people already so i think in step 1 Yuming would befriend him somewhat and Jude would follow her like a lost puppy cause he thinks she's too cool, it might falter a little on step 2, i just feel like they might grow apart but they'd reconnect and continue their friendship this time in a more balanced way in step 3. i feel like they'd often have picnics on the forest and read together CAUSE WHY NOT
FIO AND YUMING AUGH 🙁🙁❤️❤️ fio being scared of butterflies is a new thing i’ve learned but that’s so cute actually and very valid too 🫶🏽 The friendship bracelets 😭😭 the bug talk and examinating them😭😭 Yu-Ming would definitely make fiore treats in the shape(s) of her favourite bug(s)!!

Lennox : they would absolutely be friends with kojo, Lennox goal to gather as many friends as he can get and that include both kojo and yu-ming. Especially yu-ming, Lennox adores and dotes on sweet people, he would probably hang out with her more, repaying her sweetness with even more sweetness.
Lennox when it comes to kojo, he would be friends but not that close but step 2, he would be kind of creepy, not like in a bad way but more of like observing with a silent smile like Lennox knows something that kojo doesn't, especially with teasing him since Lennox likes to get reactions.

Hiro with Kojo: (I feel like they met in step 2 first) At first, Hiro and Kojo dont really talk. Like, at all. Hiro keeps to himself, not bc hes shy, just tired. Hes been burned too many times to let people in easily. Kojo, on the other hand, is this weird mix of blunt, tired, and secretly kind, with a sprinkle of 'dont mess with me.' so yeah, they notice each other, but they dont click right away. Kojo probably thinks Hiros a bit of a ghost at first. Quiet, distant, unreadable behind the mask. Like, bro, youre yelling at people for looking at your friends weird, youre not fooling anyone. They dont become close with a big moment. Its slow. Casual. A "Yo, you good?" after class. sharing music. sitting next to each other without needing to talk. Kojo starts talking abt psychology or some song hes writtin, and Hiro just listens. And Kojo realizes he likes that kind of quiet. Not awkward silence. Comfy silence. Hiro doesnt flinch at Kojos sharpness. He actually kinda likes it, its honest. And Kojo weirdly enough, respects Hiros silence. He doesnt try to drag out words out of him. Just, lets him be. Eventually Hiro starts responding a bit more. Little things. Eye contact, a nod, the occasional dry one-liner that absolutely kills. Kojo live for those. By the time they really become friends, its like, yeah, they still look like opposites. Hiros quiet, soft-spoken, always looks a bit worn down. Kojos cold, tired, kinda mean on the outside. But they get each other. Like, really get each other. Hiro doesnt have to explain why he wears a mask all the time. Kojo doesnt have to explain why he snaps sometimes. They just know. Kojo would fight for Hiro without question. Hiro would stay up all night sitting next to Kojo during a breakdown and not say a word, just be there. Its that kind of friendship. Messy, quiet, but solid as hell. Theyre not loud abt it. No dramatic declarations. Just 2 people whos been through a lot, found each other, and decided, "yeah, im not goin anywhere"
Hiro with Yu-Ming: (step 2 again) Yu-Ming is probably the kind of person who walked right up to Hiro one say and sais something like, "Hi! You look sad. Want a cookie?" And Hiro, unsure whether to be surprised or moved, just stared at her for a second before awkwardly taking it and giving her the tiniest nod. Thats prob how it starts. Yu-Ming doesnt treat Hiro like hes broken or scary or some mystery to solve, she treats him like a person. A quiet person, sure, but one she gen wants to know. And that makes all thr difference to him. She talks to him like its normal to be quiet. Normal to hide his face behind a mask. She prob compliments it once like, "thats a cool mask. Kinda makes you look like a ninja" and Hiro has to look away bc for once, someone made a comment that didnt make him feel weird in a bad way. Yu-Ming doesnt push him to open up, but shes always there. Like. The kind of friend wholl sit next to you on the ground and just be there while youre going through it. Shell do all the talking if he needs space to process. Or shell be silent if thats what feels better. Shes tuned in, yknow? She reads Hiro in a way that some ppl dont even try to. She would be one of the few ppl who he takes the mask off around with no hesitation. Not bc she asks him to, she never does, but bc being around her feels like stepping sunlight. Safe. Warm. Still. Hes not afraid of being seen by her, not really. Yu-Ming doesnt baby him. She doesnt treat him like hes fragile. But shes gentle witb him like, "Ik youve beeb through some stuff, but im not scared of it. ill still be here" and that means more to Hiro than shell prob ever know. Its a quiet kind of love, even if its platonic. One that says; "you dont have to change for me, just let me stay"
Sylvan with Kojo: Kojo and Sylvan are.. Kinda a mess together. But like, the good kind. You wouldnt think they click at first since theyre pretty much opposite. Hes cold, blunt, and keeps most ppl at arms length. And Sylvan? Shes a walking rag of chaotic sunshine who talks with her hands and wears clothes louder than mosy ppls personalities. But somehow, it works. at first, Kojos prob not sure what to make of her. Shes loud. Shes everywhere. She once called his poetry 'funky beautiful' and offered him a scrunchie in the same sentence. He stared at her like she had 2 heads. But Sylvan didnt take it personally. She just laughed and kept popping up, throwing bits of sunshine at his cloudy exterior until smth cracked. And it probably did, bc Sylvan? Shes persistent in the most unintimidating way possible. She would make him try on clothes shes sewn, even if he grumbles the entire time. "Youd look so good in this, trust me. Fashion is about vibes, and you have 'cool but emotionally unavailable antihero' written all over you." Kojo would probably roll his eyes. but he wears the jacket anyway. He doesnt say thank you, but he doesnt take it off either. Sylvan doesnt fully get Kojo. Hes complex, guarded, and his sarcasm sometimes flies right over her stupid head. But she likes him anyway(platonically). She tells him, straight up, "Youre my friend, btw. Just so you know." and that? Thats what Kojo needed. Someone to say it out loud. No guessing, no weird games. Just; "Hey, I choose you". Once thats settled, he softens. Still blunt. Still occasionally says something that makes ppl do a double take. But Sylvans unbothered. She just laughs and says, "Rude, but fair," and keeps going. He lets his softer side shows sometimes. Like, when he plays violin and lets her sit on the floor next to him, sketching her designs away while he practices. When he shows her a poem and asks, "Is this too much?" and she replies with, "No, its you and thats never too much."
Sylvan with Yu-Ming: (Both are extremely extroverted so you already know theyre gonna be besties) Sylvan and Yu-Ming are like the sun in 2 different time zones. One rises loud and glittery withbedazzled boots, the other warms you quietly like morning light through tree branches. And together? Theyre unstoppable. They meet and Sylvans first thought was; "This girl is adorable! Im going to be her friend." And Yu-Mings first thought was; "She looks like a fancy butterfly! I want to be her friend." Easy, instant connection. No weird awkward phase. Yu-Ming brings calm. Sylvan brings energy. Its a good mix. The first time Yu-Ming shows Sylvan a cool bug she found in the woods, Sylvan SCREAMS. like, actual shriek, tosses her purse in the air, nearly falls over. Yu-Ming is just blinking like, "... Its just a beetle." And Sylvan, panting, goes, "IT HAS TOO MANY LEGS!" This moment pretty much defines them. Yu-Ming tries not to bring her any bugs around her after that, but sometimes she forgets, and Sylvan is oh so brave for not running away when Yu-Ming casually pulls out a praying mantis out of her pocket like its her emotional support pet. Sylvan will press herself against the farthest tree, hand over her heart, muttering, "Im fine, Im fine, totally not dying over here." while Yu-Ming gently puts the bug back on the grass like, "Sorry, Sylvans dramatic sometimes." Despite that.. Sylvan loves being around Yu-Ming. Yu-Mings the kind of person who listens, really listens, and remember little things. If Sylvans having a rough day, shell get a note that says "youre loved" and maybe a cookie thats shaped like a button. No spotlight, no noise, just quiet care. Sylvan, in turn, ADORES Yu-Ming. She designs bug-proof outfits for forest walks so they can hang out outdoors without Sylvan having a meltdown. Yu-Ming would prob try to get Sylvan over her fear, gently like, "What if you look at them from 10 feet away?" and Sylvans like "... Okay, for you" Sylvan doesnt always win, but she always tries. And that effort means a lot to Yu-Ming. (I accidentally made it way too bug themed but oh well 🥲)
Btw I have another MC, her name is Tanlin(also known as TanTan) but Im still developing her as a character so unfortunately I wont be able to write her dynamic with your MCs 😔

i want to yap about their pre step 1 stages cause thats where i put all the angst on but i dont want to make the post too long so shortly they were both pretty much isolated kids due to not fitting in, but while Fio's reaction was "screw them i can play on my own" Jude's was more of a "WHY DONT THEY LIKE MEEE 😭😭" and trying to fit in by being quiet and "less of a bore" (bear with me here 6-7 year olds can be the WORSE when it comes to bullying 🙏), which made a big impact on Fio's defensive behavior and Jude's comfort in silence later :3

Because I'm bored and I have not been in here for a little while, here's some angsty lore about my Mc's! Step 1 (mostly)
Berryl : Before moving to the smaller town of G.G, she used to get really overstimulated near her city's road with loud engines, explains why she was so quiet during steps 1, but beginning to get more comfy during other steps, but sometimes will relapse when something is too loud and it triggers her back into when she was in the city.
Noki : Lived near a beach where there's also a dense forest, being the black sheep of his entire friend group, he was once abandoned in the woods by them until the sun set down, and eventually his mama found him quivering and cold, sitting next to his shiny eevee plushie. He still holds onto it to this day, and the memories still linger in the back of his head even until adulthood, but looking back to it as he got older, he'd always wished he could comfort his younger youth.
Khaoi : 'Weird bug kid.' Is always familiar to him, both in a sad, but sort of happy way? He doesn't really know, he'd collect little bugs, make a little enclosure for them using the plastic boxes his mommy always got him and show some of them off to his friends, which were met with faces of pure disgust, annoyance, and ignorance. But that didn't affect him! .. Maybe a little. As much as he'd like to pretend he'll be alright, he just couldn't bare the thought of being alone. The reason why he covers his eyes, is because he can't fit in with the rest of his group, he sticks out like a sore thumb most of the time, and that's why kids his age tend to avoid him.

I get not wanting to draw the ponytail man, angles are hard, I honestly don’t know why I torture myself like this. That’s part of why I gave her coat a hood, in case I was too lazy to draw her hair. She still has the ponytail though, it’s just hidden.

I have another question, it's related to the mass mc drawing I'm doing. I want to draw my mcs interacting with yours, but, I don't want to mischaracterize them. Also I'm practicing more expressions, so yeah.
You can yap, and how do you think your mcs would interact with mine?
For reference, Xipil will not talk to anyone. She can talk, and used to ramble, but due to past bullying incidents (the scar on her cheek, the bullies wanted to get her to shut up), she has opted to go mute. She is very polite, and shows it through actions. The only way she makes friends is with her special rock collection, dubbed "Frienship Rocks". She got this from penguins, since that's how they court. But she doesn't know this and thought that's how they made friends. So if she gives you a rock, she wants to be your friend.
Metztli is very confident and is actually pretty serious. Befriending her is kind of hard because she's not used to people wanting to be her friend. She's very blunt too, and her need to be perfect gets in the way of her actually being nice. But if you're her friend, she will be very protective of you.
Quetzalli is very flighty. She will often run away or freeze, purely because she doesn't know how to speak to people. Like Xipil, she was made fun of for wanting to be a captain, and her rants on ships. It's worse if she finds someone pretty/handsome, because she knows she's awkward and doesn't want to embarrass herself in front of them. If you were to attempt to talk to her, just hand her something she can fidget with (like a stick), and she'll stay and let you talk to her. Just don't mind her slight stutter and frantic nods, she's trying her best to speak. She'll also squeak when caught off guard, but if you're friend, she'll refer to you as first mate.
Bacon is kind of the opposite of your mc’s he’s extremely extroverted and friendly.. So he would likely be able to get along with Xipil even if she doesn’t talk much as he doesn’t really mind. He could likely get along with Metztli if they realized that because of his mental disabilities, he likely doesn’t mean her any harm. Quetzalli on the other hand, would be completely overwhelmed by him.
Sin is can definitely get along with Xipil, they’re no stranger to befriending quiet kids, and would definitely step in to do the talking for her. Sin may be outgoing but they do know how to dial their energy back so they’d likely act more calmly around Queztalli and act kind of like a kind big sibling. Sin is a master at understanding people. They’d probably faili to talk to Metztli several time, before she realized that Sin actually wants to be friends.
Kathryne, doesn’t start any conversations herself until step 3 due to not speaking English. She and Xipil would likely have to be introduced by Qiu and Tamarack and it would be very awkward. I feel like they’d get along though, even if they never speak. She and Metztli could probably be friends, I’d feel like Metztli would start talking to KitKat and overtime, they become friends, even if Kathryne can’t tell her that. Xipil and KitKat would have a very awkward relationship, Kathryne would probably scare her off at first due to her cold nature. But Quetzalli would likely start ranting about ships one day when she sees a picture of Kathryne from when she was still in Greenland since nearly all towns are along the coast.
Zephyr is kinda adaptable so he would be awkward with Xipil but still give a slight smile and guide the conversation as long as Xipil is comfortable with it ( while hoping someone they're both friends with comes by).
With Metztli I feel like he'd ask just the right question to make her rant about something while nodding and open smiling.
And with Quetzalli he'd probably give her a candy or some snack, maybe sit in silence afterwards until he asks to play something.
For El, he doesn't talk directly to whoever it is during first meetings until he finds them somewhat trustable. After that he's kinda like a comfort friend, anyone can lean on him (shorty) and he doesn't mind being left out of conversation as long as he's present.
YAYAYAY!!! Ive been WAITING to explore their dynamics so please correct me if i accidentally mischaracterize any of your MC’s!

- Xipil: It’d be a slowburn friendship to me! Specially cos Runie is so wary of his strength (he has abnormal strength.. like Shizuo Heiwajima strength) that in Step 1 and Step 2 he doesnt wanna scare Xipil away, so this would be another Runie Shield moment(tm) where Runie early on in Step 1 would just protect Xipil from anything dangerous and likes her (platonically) from afar. In late Step 2 I believe he’d work up the courage to talk to her.
It’ll start as an awkward friendship at first but once they slowly get to learn about each other more and bond (ALSO they get to bond over getting bullied so early on in their childhood which makes my heart ache 💔💔)
Their dynamic in a nutshell: Soft Stronk and Soft Sweet
- Metztli: Runie would come to respect and admire her but they wouldnt become realllyyy close. Maybe like, more than acquaintances but less than friends. He really admires Metztli’s attitude (he doesnt know abt her perfectionism) and sometimes will just give her random baked goods if he made too much. - Quetzalli: Oh Runie would LOVE to be part of her crew! You know that Markiplier jingle jangle clip? Id like to think thats how he made friends with her when they first met 😭 Runie lets her rant about her interests about being a Captain and her endless knowledge of ships even if he sometimes doesnt have a clue and gets confused but does his best.. even if he says something completely stupid and remembers the names of the ships wrong 😭😭
Id also like to think that whenever they go to the beach to hang out or go on a boat ride, Runie would prepare batches of treats that are marine themed and give them to Quetzalli so they can eat it together :’3

- Xipil: actually,, gets really interested with the friendship rocks thing that she does, prompting her to research about penguins, ended up liking that animal, and now studying Xipil because thats the closest thing to a penguin shes got.
She starts interacting with her. Not, like, in the traditional sense. But more like she sits next to her quietly as she reads or writes in her notebook, she chooses to spend time nearby Xipil or Metztli because she finds both of them interesting and not too annoying for her (in her terms)
I feel like she’d feel calm enough with Xipil that she tries to learn social cues and not be rude TwT.
- Metztli: Kanra would actively try and try to set her off 💔 she absolutely loves breaking down peoples facades so I dont think Metztli would honestly like her because of how manipulative and invasive she is. Unfortunately though I think Kanra would still do it for her studies and for her own personal interests. (See: her having subclinical Psychopathy and has a hobby of trying to gauge out peoples emotions and reactions because she can only feel emotions but its very muted.)
So im SO sorry Metztli but I think Kanra would still continue to do this to her all the way through Step 1 to Step 4 😭😭 (is this her way of making friends? Probably yes. Does she realise its rude and its offensive to Metztli? Nope not a clue)
- Quetzalli: Surprisingly I think with a bit of time and effort I think Kanra would come to like her. With Kanra’s fixation on sharks she wouldnt mind being a part of her crew. Although she’d probably get scolded by Runie if she starts being a bit mean and manipulative with Quetzalli which would in turn make Kanra learn more on social nuances and boundaries. I think theyd be friends in the middle of Step 2. And if they were, their dynamic would be the talker x listener because even though Kanra isnt good at talking, shes an amazing listener as well and can honestly have a whole 4 hour debate and conversation with Quetzalli about marine life and ships (she’d also learn more about ships for her. Kanra would never admit that she did it for her though LOL)

Also sorry about the yap and potential mischaracterize of your mcs, but here's how I think Xipil, Metztli, and Quetzalli would respond. Let me know if I need to correct anything!
Xipil would actually think Runie was cool, and be a bit confused with Kanra. But she'd definitely give them rocks to be their friend. She does eventually talk to him first, but she's so nervous it comes out soft. But once she realizes he's been bullied, she gets mad because she thinks he's a cool person and doesn't deserve it (he doesn't). For Kanra, Xipil would probably think Kanra likes rocks, so she'll constantly return with geodes and gems. But Xipil does dig holes in her front yard to find more. So it's like she's part mole too, because somehow she'll always find a way to dig deep. Sometimes it's awkward because she'll just pop out of a hole with rocks and covered in dirt with a blank look on her face.
Quetzalli would immediately try and get them hats too, explaining that they're very important crew mates. She'll make sure the crew mascot is a shark, and she definitely wouldn't mind if Runie got confused. She herself gets confused too, but she wouldn't notice Kanra being mean. Only when Runie points it out, but even then she forgives Kanra because despite going through so much, she can't hate Kanra. She doesn't think it's right, so she learns to sew shark plushes for her. She would consider them her best friends, because eventually she realizes that there's people who do like when she yaps. She would also ask Runie to teach her how to bake so she could give him stuff in return.
Metztli would slightly look at Runie confused, but she definitely makes him bracelets. She hopes she can try and reassure that she's nice, but she would genuinely care (platonically). She would a hundred percent insult people mean to Runie and Kanra. Metztli would make Kanra jewelry, but huff a bit. She eventually gets a bit used to it.

Some basic explanations abt them per step if you do not know my characters well!:
pre-step 1 Kojo is a nice, energetic, and pretty friendly person! He however can get very protective and angry about his friends and doesn’t hesitate to fight people older than him. He is born in Melbourne, Australia and moved to Compton, California at 6 before finally moving to Golden Grove, Oregon 🙏 In Step 1 he’s still the same, however he is a little bit of grump because he had to move again. He also toned down on the aggressiveness, keeping it to thoughts. In Step 2 Kojo goes through depression and his undiagnosed autism gets a bit much with him heavily masking when getting to middle school and onwards, his past aggressive tendencies are also coming back alongs side an apathetic aside with borderline sociopathic behaviour 💔💔 he gets into fights (outside of school, since he’s vice-president and really likes that position) and kind of gets a rep of being cold, stoic, blunt and spunky. If you get to know him, he’s quite the sweetheart however! You do need to tell him you consider him a friend because, yk… social cues ain’t his specialty 💔 He has a knack for writing poems and making music to process his emotions (some poems and lyrics therefore might be a lil explicit and disturbing 😓😓) He also likes to learn different languages and would probably learn your MC’s native language in a way of showing affection. In step 3 he is still processing some shit that happened in step 2, but is doing miles better 🙏🙏 he still has all the problematic tendencies and apathetic personality but finds himself to blend in with others pretty well! He has always been blunt, and still is. He is still uncaring and cold but hides it pretty well behind faux interest 😒😒 he does hold absolute interest and love towards people he actually likes, and tries to hold his attention to them the best he can! (he’s trying) He also plays two instruments now; the violin and the bass guitar! He likes to sing too, but like, he’s a little shy 😓😓 In his free time he loves to play his instruments, study psychology and human behaviour + biology bcs he’s lowk a bit of a loser and still doesn’t really understand all the social cues stuff, and read & write. In step 4 i guess he’d be a little less apathetic?? he still very much is but he’s a bit less blunt and ‘rude’ as others would call him.
Yu-Ming on the other hand is a very sweet girl! She’s a darling and loves bugs and animals! Pre step 1, she lives in China (idk where yet) until 7 before moving to Texas! Yu-Ming already learned a little English back in China but is a fast learner and becomes pretty fluid quickly. She loves to make friends and is very extroverted 🫶🏽🫶🏽 In step 1 this is all still the same, she also develops a love for the forest and all the plants and stuff there. In step 2 she’s still extroverted, but also doesn’t mind having a few less friends rather than a big crowd of people. She likes to bake and make treats for the people dear to her 🙁❤️ she is a polar opposite of Kojo and very empathetic, and would probably drop everything to make sure your Mc’s alright if they’re hurt or going through something. No need to be close or seen as ‘important’ or even ‘valuable’ like Kojo. In step 3 she’s still a lovely bug 💗💗 she’s honestly the same as her step 2 self but a bit less selfless. She has learned to let herself have some things too and has achieved a nice balance of such. In her free time she likes to read and help around. She’s actually quite buff, with visible muscles in her arms and visible abs if she wears a tighter shirt! In step 4 this continues and yeah, that’s it.
BLYTHE AND YU-MING WOULD SOO BE GREAT FRIENDS!! like, they could meet at ANY given step and STILL be good friends in any of them! Blythe is usually (or more like ALWAYS) very hyperactive and energetic most of the time.. but there's a list of people that she acts "normal" around and the people in that list are COMPLETELY RANDOM. but yu-ming and kojo are in that list lmao.
With Kojo, Blythe would probably also be either friends or is friendly with him (as she is with everyone lol). If they met in Step 2 though, Blythe might see Kojo as somewhat intimidating because of his position and reputation, but still be friendly towards him!
YU-MING AND BLYTHE MY DEARS 🙁💗 idk much about blythe but i feel like they’d be adorbs with one another ❤️❤️
Kojo would, in my mind, actually like Blythe a bit! as long as she isn’t overly energetic around him (he has a shit social battery and also sensitive to like… chaos?? idk how to word it he just doesn’t like people being everywhere all at once around him) idk if blythe is of any non american ethnicity but she’d definitely be someone he’d learn a language for 🤞🏽🤞🏽
Bacon and Kojo probably wouldn’t be friends until step 2 when Kojo would be able to recognize some of the same autistic tendencies he has in Bacon. I feel like he’d get along with Yu-Ming just fine through. I imagine she would kinda treat him like a little kid which is how most people treat him in steps 1-3.
I feel like Sin and Kojo would probably be good friends, their personalities are opposite but they both have the same hatred for bullies. Sin and Yu-Ming would either be a power duo or a recipient for disaster. Sin also tends to put other’s needs before their own too much so the two would be constantly worried for each other without taking care of themselves.
KitKat and Kojo likely wouldn’t get along, they both have the same cold, blunt, and uninterested attitude which I don’t think would mix well. Yu-Ming would also likely annoy KitKat for a while after they first meet because she doesn’t like social activity. Also, even though she’s blind, she doesn’t like people being super worried about her. It makes her feel like she’s being treated like a baby. They would likely get along after a while though.
I like all these dynamics! But i fear you may have interpreted Yu-Ming’s kindness for babying/pitying 😭😭 none of my MCs would ever baby someone other than, well, a baby … as someone who has been babied most of my life due to physical disabilities and such (and still am), i absolutely hate it and would never ever make my MCs do such 🫶🏽🫶🏽 Yu-Ming would still be kind to Bacon and Kath, but never baby. She knows where the limit is and would probably ask either of them what they prefer in terms of helping/caring and such. If she knows Kathryne can handle herself most of the time if not all time she’ll leave her do her thing! ❤️
Oh I gotcha, I misinterpreted it with Bacon but I didn’t actually mean she’d baby KitKat. I just meant that Kathryne just doesn’t like to be the center of attention and is stubborn to a fault, so having people worry about her or help her do things, even if she actually needs their help, feels condescending to her when it’s really not.
Mari would be terrified of Kojo 😭 Well, in step 2 at least. I think she wouldn't mind having him around in step 1-3-4. But Mari and he could get along in step 2 if they started talking to each other by some miracle. As for Yu-Ming, get ready for the special "I don't know that I have a puppy crush" SPECIAL!!! She'd get along in all steps, though she'd be unnerved in step 2 due to her friendly personality (trust issues dearie 😔). I think they'd be friends basically, maybe lovers, but we'd be slow burning like requiemduo. Either way, she's gonna be compliant with both of them because they could both break her arm 👍
Kel would be kind of unnerved by Kojo, but not enough to try and talk to him (and be a little annoying), they would be acquaintances in step 1 due to Kojo's grumpiness and Kel's somewhat cold nature with strangers. Other than that, they could get along on the other steps. As for Yu Ming, yeah, they'd get along, even in step 1. Natural besties over here 🙏. He'd have a little puppy crush on both of them, as he does with most of his friends.
Elias is well, same as Mari. Utterly terrified of Kojo. But at the same time, he trusts him due to his position as Vice President, and they MIGHT be able to get along in Step 3-4 if someone introduced them or something. However, they won't get along in Step 1 due to Elias being a bitter boy and stuff. For Yu Ming, yeah, she's looking out for that dude. They might not be able to get along in Step one, BUT Yu Ming would make sure Elias was ok, and healthy :3

- sadly i think she’d find her a bit boring and doesnt make any attempts to befriend her. Shes polite to her though! She respects Yu-Mings kindness and, surprisingly, doesnt make fun or be unintentionally mean about that. Kanra may piss people off sometimes but shes not a monster 😭😭 even SHE gets affected by the Yu-Ming effect (even if she doesnt befriend her wjdnsnsbsn)

i want to start with Fio and Yuming CAUSE THEY'D GET SO ALONG RAHHH ESPECIALLY BECAUSE OF BUGS Fio is also an insect nerd and would kill for any chance to yap about them already so i think they'd approach the same bug (if Yuming likes randomly examining them too), bump into eachother, go "YOU TOO!!??" and form a lifetime friendship on the spot. just this in all steps they yap about bugs together, make friendship bracelets, Fio trusts her enough to hide behind her when a butterfly shows up etc . THEIR CHARACTERS JUST GENERALLY FIT SO MUCH I THINK FIO WOULD INSTANTLY FEEL SAFE WITH HER 😭🫶
and she's having a strong bond with Jude too!! sweet extroverted people are one of his favorite people already so i think in step 1 Yuming would befriend him somewhat and Jude would follow her like a lost puppy cause he thinks she's too cool, it might falter a little on step 2, i just feel like they might grow apart but they'd reconnect and continue their friendship this time in a more balanced way in step 3. i feel like they'd often have picnics on the forest and read together CAUSE WHY NOT

Lennox : they would absolutely be friends with kojo, Lennox goal to gather as many friends as he can get and that include both kojo and yu-ming. Especially yu-ming, Lennox adores and dotes on sweet people, he would probably hang out with her more, repaying her sweetness with even more sweetness.
Lennox when it comes to kojo, he would be friends but not that close but step 2, he would be kind of creepy, not like in a bad way but more of like observing with a silent smile like Lennox knows something that kojo doesn't, especially with teasing him since Lennox likes to get reactions.

Hiro with Kojo: (I feel like they met in step 2 first) At first, Hiro and Kojo dont really talk. Like, at all. Hiro keeps to himself, not bc hes shy, just tired. Hes been burned too many times to let people in easily. Kojo, on the other hand, is this weird mix of blunt, tired, and secretly kind, with a sprinkle of 'dont mess with me.' so yeah, they notice each other, but they dont click right away. Kojo probably thinks Hiros a bit of a ghost at first. Quiet, distant, unreadable behind the mask. But then he sees how Hiro pays attention, the way he watches, listens, notices small things other people dont. And Hiro, despite being all guarded, sees through Kojos whole 'I-dont-care-abt-anyone' act pretty quickly. Like, bro, youre yelling at people for looking at your friends weird, youre not fooling anyone. They dont become close with a big moment. Its slow. Casual. A "Yo, you good?" after class. sharing music. sitting next to each other without needing to talk. Kojo starts talking abt psychology or some song hes writtin, and Hiro just listens. And Kojo realizes he likes that kind of quiet. Not awkward silence. Comfy silence. Hiro doesnt flinch at Kojos sharpness. He actually kinda likes it, its honest. And Kojo weirdly enough, respects Hiros silence. He doesnt try to drag out words out of him. Just, lets him be. Eventually Hiro starts responding a bit more. Little things. Eye contact, a nod, the occasional dry one-liner that absolutely kills. Kojo live for those. By the time they really become friends, its like, yeah, they still look like opposites. Hiros quiet, soft-spoken, always looks a bit worn down. Kojos cold, tired, kinda mean on the outside. But they get each other. Like, really get each other. Hiro doesnt have to explain why he wears a mask all the time. Kojo doesnt have to explain why he snaps sometimes. They just know. Kojo would fight for Hiro without question. Hiro would stay up all night sitting next to Kojo during a breakdown and not say a word, just be there. Its that kind of friendship. Messy, quiet, but solid as hell. Theyre not loud abt it. No dramatic declarations. Just 2 people whos been through a lot, found each other, and decided, "yeah, im not goin anywhere"
Hiro with Yu-Ming: (step 2 again) Yu-Ming is probably the kind of person who walked right up to Hiro one say and sais something like, "Hi! You look sad. Want a cookie?" And Hiro, unsure whether to be surprised or moved, just stared at her for a second before awkwardly taking it and giving her the tiniest nod. Thats prob how it starts. Yu-Ming doesnt treat Hiro like hes broken or scary or some mystery to solve, she treats him like a person. A quiet person, sure, but one she gen wants to know. And that makes all thr difference to him. She talks to him like its normal to be quiet. Normal to hide his face behind a mask. She prob compliments it once like, "thats a cool mask. Kinda makes you look like a ninja" and Hiro has to look away bc for once, someone made a comment that didnt make him feel weird in a bad way. Yu-Ming doesnt push him to open up, but shes always there. Like. The kind of friend wholl sit next to you on the ground and just be there while youre going through it. Shell do all the talking if he needs space to process. Or shell be silent if thats what feels better. Shes tuned in, yknow? She reads Hiro in a way that some ppl dont even try to. She would be one of the few ppl who he takes the mask off around with no hesitation. Not bc she asks him to, she never does, but bc being around her feels like stepping sunlight. Safe. Warm. Still. Hes not afraid of being seen by her, not really. Yu-Ming doesnt baby him. She doesnt treat him like hes fragile. But shes gentle witb him like, "Ik youve beeb through some stuff, but im not scared of it. ill still be here" and that means more to Hiro than shell prob ever know. Its a quiet kind of love, even if its platonic. One that says; "you dont have to change for me, just let me stay"
Sylvan with Kojo: Kojo and Sylvan are.. Kinda a mess together. But like, the good kind. You wouldnt think they click at first since theyre pretty much opposite. Hes cold, blunt, and keeps most ppl at arms length. And Sylvan? Shes a walking rag of chaotic sunshine who talks with her hands and wears clothes louder than mosy ppls personalities. But somehow, it works. at first, Kojos prob not sure what to make of her. Shes loud. Shes everywhere. She once called his poetry 'funky beautiful' and offered him a scrunchie in the same sentence. He stared at her like she had 2 heads. But Sylvan didnt take it personally. She just laughed and kept popping up, throwing bits of sunshine at his cloudy exterior until smth cracked. And it probably did, bc Sylvan? Shes persistent in the most unintimidating way possible. She would make him try on clothes shes sewn, even if he grumbles the entire time. "Youd look so good in this, trust me. Fashion is about vibes, and you have 'cool but emotionally unavailable antihero' written all over you." Kojo would probably roll his eyes. but he wears the jacket anyway. He doesnt say thank you, but he doesnt take it off either. Sylvan doesnt fully get Kojo. Hes complex, guarded, and his sarcasm sometimes flies right over her stupid head. But she likes him anyway(platonically). She tells him, straight up, "Youre my friend, btw. Just so you know." and that? Thats what Kojo needed. Someone to say it out loud. No guessing, no weird games. Just; "Hey, I choose you". Once thats settled, he softens. Still blunt. Still occasionally says something that makes ppl do a double take. But Sylvans unbothered. She just laughs and says, "Rude, but fair," and keeps going. He lets his softer side shows sometimes. Like, when he plays violin and lets her sit on the floor next to him, sketching her designs away while he practices. When he shows her a poem and asks, "Is this too much?" and she replies with, "No, its you and thats never too much."
Sylvan with Yu-Ming: (Both are extremely extroverted so you already know theyre gonna be besties) Sylvan and Yu-Ming are like the sun in 2 different time zones. One rises loud and glittery withbedazzled boots, the other warms you quietly like morning light through tree branches. And together? Theyre unstoppable. They meet and Sylvans first thought was; "This girl is adorable! Im going to be her friend." And Yu-Mings first thought was; "She looks like a fancy butterfly! I want to be her friend." Easy, instant connection. No weird awkward phase. Yu-Ming brings calm. Sylvan brings energy. Its a good mix. The first time Yu-Ming shows Sylvan a cool bug she found in the woods, Sylvan SCREAMS. like, actual shriek, tosses her purse in the air, nearly falls over. Yu-Ming is just blinking like, "... Its just a beetle." And Sylvan, panting, goes, "IT HAS TOO MANY LEGS!" This moment pretty much defines them. Yu-Ming tries not to bring her any bugs around her after that, but sometimes she forgets, and Sylvan is oh so brave for not running away when Yu-Ming casually pulls out a praying mantis out of her pocket like its her emotional support pet. Sylvan will press herself against the farthest tree, hand over her heart, muttering, "Im fine, Im fine, totally not dying over here." while Yu-Ming gently puts the bug back on the grass like, "Sorry, Sylvans dramatic sometimes." Despite that.. Sylvan loves being around Yu-Ming. Yu-Mings the kind of person who listens, really listens, and remember little things. If Sylvans having a rough day, shell get a note that says "youre loved" and maybe a cookie thats shaped like a button. No spotlight, no noise, just quiet care. Sylvan, in turn, ADORES Yu-Ming. She designs bug-proof outfits for forest walks so they can hang out outdoors without Sylvan having a meltdown. Yu-Ming would prob try to get Sylvan over her fear, gently like, "What if you look at them from 10 feet away?" and Sylvans like "... Okay, for you" Sylvan doesnt always win, but she always tries. And that effort means a lot to Yu-Ming. (I accidentally made it way too bug themed but oh well 🥲)
Btw I have another MC, her name is Tanlin(also known as TanTan) but Im still developing her as a character so unfortunately I wont be able to write her dynamic with your MCs 😔

i want to yap about their pre step 1 stages cause thats where i put all the angst on but i dont want to make the post too long so shortly they were both pretty much isolated kids due to not fitting in, but while Fio's reaction was "screw them i can play on my own" Jude's was more of a "WHY DONT THEY LIKE MEEE 😭😭" and trying to fit in by being quiet and "less of a bore" (bear with me here 6-7 year olds can be the WORSE when it comes to bullying 🙏), which made a big impact on Fio's defensive behavior and Jude's comfort in silence later :3
