Create the protagonist of your story:
Pick a first name, last name, honorifics, and have a nickname, too. Use any pronouns you prefer, including using multiple types and implementing your own set. Design your appearance using a dress-up doll, from skin tone, to hair, to clothes and accessories. Your mom’s appearance is partially customizable to have a family resemblance!
Take it Step by Step:
Experience four distinct periods of time: childhood, teen-aged, young adulthood, and grown. With all the highs and lows, the fears and fun, and the endless possibilities of self-discovery.
Live as you please:
Express your personality and preferences through hundreds of choices, then see those traits reflected in the story as people remember who you are. And you can always change as the years go by, whether that means discovering a new passion, shifting your disposition, or transitioning to different pronouns.
Find friendship, family, and romance:
Your own mom, peers, their parents, teachers, and other acquaintances; there’s a whole community in Golden Grove, and it’s up to you to choose your place in it. Meaningful connections of all kinds can be nurtured. Is the stoic elderly man on the street scary or is he your new adopted grandpa?
Develop relationships that are truly yours:
Use your own judgement to set how quickly bonds develop. Grow closer or farther apart as years go by. Focus on only one of the leads or be fond of both, including the option for a polyamorous relationship. And how you feel towards the people in your life is what determines your closeness. There are no limits on which behaviors you can have to be liked.

Customizable lettering size and font type, two different textbox arrangements to choose from, and a self-voicing option built into the engine. Present the words in whichever style works best for you.
While you’ll be able to decide how fond you are of everyone in your life, there are two people you’ll meet whose connection to you will go deeper than all the rest: Qiu and Tamarack. Each one the same age as you and both living right next door.
Qiu “Autumn” Lin:
A true Golden Grove local, born and raised. Qiu is the kid to know in that town. The most popular, the most charming, until it all becomes too much. There’s a point where a coldness comes over Qiu and they shut out all except a few people. However, the rain doesn’t fall forever, and sadness can heal with real support. The day comes when Qiu is able to shine again, even brighter than before.
In Autumn you will find a thoughtful individual who just needs some time to embrace the person they’ve always known they were. Qiu was assigned male at birth, but comes out as genderfluid (they/he) partway through the story.
Tamarack Baumann:
A fellow newcomer, Tamarack moved in only about a week before you did. She’s a darling joy to those who get to have her company. And like the forests she loves so much, Tamarack is always changing in big and small ways. That isn’t always for the better. She’s surrounded by wrong branches, leading her down paths that only cause hurt. Yet despite all the pricks and snags on her path, the heart always remains the same.
With Tamarack you’ll see a kind miss who has a lot to learn about herself, but will never stop trying to find her way. Tamarack is a woman who only ever uses she/her pronouns.
[Qiu and Tamarack have more than one hairstyle they can end up with in the future.]
Build your life with them:
Set your unique "dynamic meters" that broadly describe how you behave towards one of the leads, keeping them consistent or switching that around as you grow up. Qiu's and Tamarack's dynamic towards you will develop in a custom way over the years based on who you are and what happens.
A romance with Qiu or Tamarack can develop as love at first sight, a longtime platonic closeness turning into last-minute confessions, a slow and gradual growth of affection that started at nothing, or anything in between.
Friendships form in just as many varied ways, ranging from immediate connections to hard-earned fondness, from casual company to irreplaceable family, and more. What you have together is complex with history and detail, yet still as natural as the leaves changing colors in the fall.

This game is so adorable, specially the interactions with Qiu.. :'( I'm probably gonna go into a bit of a rant but I NEED to express my love for Qiu's character,, so like, ever since I played the game for the first time I've been fond of his character. Like, when I first played the game I didn't have my hopes high for it, I literally installed it because it appeared so much in vns category that I decided to give it a try with the expectations of me not liking the game (it happens to me with everything idk why) and as I started playing it I just loved the game immediately and more when Qiu appeared. I like his development throughout the different steps and I think it's very well written so far, to the point that it's easy to grow fond of the character and even relate to it if you're going through smth similar. SO LIKE that's kinda besides the point, I played the game again yesterday AND I saw smn comment about choosing to fall in the wheels moment so I wanted to see what happened if I chose that (I literally had to take like five breaks from playing because I literally cannot choose to make my MC do something wrong without feeling the extreme embarrasment of it, like it even happens to me with movies and all that LOL) so like I tried it and omg it was so ADORABLE, like how he literally doesn't care about winning or getting his bandana bloody just to take care of the MC. I CANNOT WITH SUCH CUTENESS. OH AND STEP 2 QIU do NOT get me started omg they're literally me I love them so much I'll bake them and eat them on a BBQ
but anyways, I wanna meet more Qiu enjoyers that's why I'm posting this omg hi pls relate

Hi, wanna know how powerful Qiu actually is?
I have to mention that god damn all my life playing a bunch of visual novels, otome games (just so I can romance those female characters), reading all that novels, manga, watching movies, animes,... I only yearn for female characters or non-binary. Even my original intention of playing Our Life was for that reason.
But childhood Qiu quickly becomes the very exception :) 💕
(And yes I played the game without reading half of the introduce... I can't resist the powerful "chose your pronouns" option even one sec.)

i played "wheels" for step 1 and well- UH. i made my MC's legs give out and fall to the floor. pushed qiu away with my wrists. and then he- well i forgot the rest. BUT I WAS KIND AJEALOUS OF MY MC IN THAT MOMENT. thats all i remember! :)

So, I'm playing b&a for the 3rd time and does the run away moment change if you're friends or not with cove? I remember cove telling mc that he was going to run away, i think, instead of starting on the playgrounds
Heres Liam's step 3 design! and some facts about him...
He has a perfect poker face from not smiling for years (can only be broken by the most STUPID dad jokes ever)
He has a very silly and teasing personality and has taken a liking to public speaking
He's still very organized like in step one but is more childish
He follows the flow and doesnt care for routine
He uses comedy to deal with his feelings (the more upset he is the more blunt and sarcastic his humor is)
He works part time at a daycare
Has a "inspiration" board (its just filled with a bunch of pictures of clowns)
He got his scar from a fight, that fight made him snap out of his depression and get his life together
He hangs his flannel on his wall and his old bow
He still refuses to wear his glasses
He's friends with a bunch of freshmen (he loves being a mentor figure)
He sees tamarack as his family and qiu as his lover
He often teases tamarack and qiu
He's usually always sunburnt no matter the season
i adore him even more than before omg he's so silly

There's many options to avoid ai, even for non artists, go on picrew or apps to create characters!!
This is incredibly disrespectful to the artists who worked on this game
nah man theres like,, lots of alternatives if you wanna have art of your ocs (like picrew, dress up games, etc) and even then, there are tons of artists who will take different types of currency if you don't have money irl.
in game currency can work just as well! (see Royale High where you can just farm diamonds and artists can accept that as payment for comms in their subreddit) theres a lot! and yes it might be time consuming but its better than feeding AI art of the artists or using AI to create art.
(also also!! theres the off chance where artists will draw your characters if they accept requests! kinda hard to find but they do sometimes accept! :D)

I made an account just so I can comment on this game, I was never really into vis novels but this demo has got me in a chokehold, if you ever port this game to switch or something I would pay more than the usual 20 dollars for an indie game like this, actual peak.
