Such a wonderful game! I loved every second of it! The characters, the story, the music, the art... it was all so beautiful!
I must say, The Guide and Bemelle are my favorite characters. Love them both!
On my playthrough, Bemelle was the only one left (Kikka died as well). Playing the other routes made realize how bad I am at this and that I would probably die in the first five minutes if I was in their position lol
The bonus scenes were hilarious and made me want to see more of Lu's and The Guide's relationship.
Anyway, great job with the game! This was really a special one.

Oh no, I'm an absolute wreck. This game is stunningly beautiful. Everything felt so fragile: the characters, any moments of relief, everything. I was scared the entire time, just knowing we couldn't all make it. And with no true 'good' ending, it felt like there weren't any right or wrong choices, just ones you have to accept.
This game is such an experience. The art, the writing, the music, the voices, the atmosphere. I feel so torn... highly recommend haha.
This story is amazing, but i don't see the reason saving Lu. I don't know if you intend to make him unsympathetic or if it's just me anyways it's really good especially the heart to heart talk between Bemelle and Kikka. They have a good dynamic and i love them also Margret is awesome. Sadly can't let the Guide die instead of someone else.
whereas i've owned this game for years and have the pride of helping fund it (even if just by a few bucks; heck, the only reason i haven't subbed to patreon is b/c i have a personal hate for subscriptions), i still feel the pressing need to mention how absolutely incredible this game is.
the storyline is incredibly compelling, with a solid hook. at first, i shrugged it off, thinking it was just "one of those games"; and then, i was completely proven wrong.

the voice acting is tremendous. i can't imagine any of the characters without it. these choices were perfect. kikka's voice has a sense of familiarity, bemelle's ties in the "bastard" personality perfectly, margret gives the curt, whimsical feel of her character, the guide's offers a smooth, stoic, and surreal feel that deeply contrasts his emotions (honestly my favorite), and lu really hits home with the meek and insecure voice.
the art is breath-taking. it brings so much vivid life and color that i could drone on for days about all of the ways it went right. the lighting is beautiful, the emotions perfect, the texture wondrous.
the storyline ties it all together. the rich vocabulary ties it all together with a novel's disposition. its timing, emphasis, the shocking plot twists, the way that you can notice so many more foreshadowing and details once playing it through... and then again. i fawn over the guide and lu's set-up and characterization; it really pulls you in for a parasocial relationship, and tricks you into the false sense of security and humanity. there's still so much more to show that it's truly the backbone of it all.
i play this game from time to time, and i will continue to recommend it to others. i cannot stop fawning over the perfection of it, and it's an incredible shame that it's so criminally underrated.

this was such a fun ride, i loved the plot and the CGs. I've only played through lu and the guide's route but i can't seem to get the other endings of guide's route (spoilers) except for the one where MC reaches land and they never meet again :v 10/10
i'm honestly in shock that this game is free! it's amazing. i spent an afternoon with it and unlocked every ending, i believe (or at least every CG). for anyone wondering, the order i went in was margret, bemelle, lu, and then the guide, which i honestly feel was great for unlocking the ~ lore ~ in a more metered way (minor spoilers, but the guide's endings basically ONLY made sense because i'd already played lu's). even though i saw some of the bigger plot points coming, the way they were revealed were still fun + shocking! and i definitely didn't predict them all. 10/10 :)
I managed to make it with Lu, Bemelle, and the Guide. I saved my boys!! I kept playing until I saved them, I was shocked whenever they died because it was so sudden.
Great game, really powerful storytelling. I think the background music is just amazing too, the way it switches between tones really highlights whats happening in the story. Loved it, truly.
I just did two playthroughs with Bemelle and have gotten two separate endings, one where we were distant and one where we were together a lot. I'm curious if there's two endings for every LI (like one good one bad)? I'm not sure I have it in me to try to hunt for every CG but I definitely want to do all the Bemelle and Guide ones at the minimum.

Amazing experience ! The atmosphere, the voices, the designs was so good that I felt I was in Kikka's shoes, from the very beginning until the end ! Timed choice was very stressful but made everything so REAL ! I was completely in the game ! When it was finally over and we succedeed to survive with the guide and Lu, it actually took me several minutes to slow down my heartbeat.
About the characters, I found the Guide is really intriguing and really well written !... Even if Lu was my favorite, I didn't go for the romance side, I was more focused on survival haha !

So, I just downloaded this game, hoping to be entertained for like half an hour or something like that, and ended up crying at midnight xD I played Lu's route, and I don't know if I should be dissapointed because of his ending or just find it beautiful. The game is really amazing, the characters are written so well (I immediatly fell in love with Lu lmao) and so is the story, and the artstyle is stunning too. Aw, it's great to hear you got invested and that you love Lu! He's a sweetie. Lu has two main endings, I'm not sure which one you got but one is definitely longer/more complete than the other. If you have missing CGs on the last page of the gallery that means you can still find another conclusion.
omg I remember 2 years ago playing the demo and being so impatient for the full release... and now here I am 2 years later stumbling back on itch to see this fully released GEM of a game! :,-)
This was a wonderful visual novel, truly. Since the game isn't extremely long, I find myself being able to play it multiple times to explore the different endings. I've played twice, dying once and finishing with Lu and The Guide. Lu is a sweetheart and I have to try again to romance him! I'll definitely be checking out more of GBPatch's games.
Man, I wish there were more visual novels like this. The whole dimension of the plot and the characters really weighs in on you. You have no idea how frantic I was to save everyone, until I had to give up on the inevitable. Plus, that twist with the guide. Gives me the shivers.

god I played this forever ago and i still think about it, it left such a weirdly lasting impact on me that I can't explain, I romanced the guide my first time through and it was such a weirdly bittersweet thing that it stuck with me, sometimes I wished for a happier ending but I think that might be why i still think about it, because it was so heckin beautiful and it left me with a hole in my girly soul, the voice acting was great and honestly i love the horror/romance vibe, i wish it was more popular, not the spooky vampire stuff but genuine horror, like this, stuff that I really should not be playing at 2 in the morning but I do anyway because i'm irresponsible. Sorry i'm rambling a bit, i've recently been looking into more VNs of this genre and Lake of voices is the standard I keep comparing them all to, my weak heart can't take it ;~:

I love this game, as much as it irks me to no end to feel so cheated for so many routes, and the bonus content is so on point I couldnt help but end smiling at the end. Was a nice remise from all of the deaths.
Srsly, I rly wanted everyone to live, but I think it feels fitting after all of the ends, to acknowledge how it goes.
I'll be playing the game soon. 100% sure it will emotionally crush me because I always try to save everyone in games like this one, haha. Will let you know when I finish playing!

Good luck! There are endings where the MC dies trying to help others, but either someone else has already died or it's so early in the story that it's pretty much inevitable that more people are going to die as the journey goes on, . The MC of this game is pretty important to have around. With her gone there isn't much hope for the others. The guide and just one other person, or possibly only the guide, will make it to the end. Though the MC won't be around to see it. I'm sorry it's such a downer, aha. Being that MC is a rough job.
Well that's quite unfortunate, haha. It will make the experience even more heartbreaking, knowing that I cannot sacrifice myself to save the rest. I'm sure this game will be quite the emotional rollercoaster, can't wait to play it!
I just finished Lu's route. This game absolutely blew my expectations out of the water and I honestly don't know if I'm really happy or mad at that ending, but I loved playing the game. I was really shocked at all that transpired and just thank you all for making this awesome game.
Streamed this for my first visual novel playthrough and I definitely was not disappointed. Definitely going back in to explore all the options. Great voicing, great soundtrack, great art, great game!
Aha, well, maybe? His route has two endings; one where you choose to listen to him right before reaching the shore and one where you decide it's better to not do that. Then there is a totally different route that has a choice option which gives a special guide-centric epilogue . Whether or not any of that is considered 'good' definitely depends on the player. I'm sorry he's such a difficult one.
Honestly, this game amazed me. The art is stunning and the voice acting was so spot on, really did set the mood. It kept me on edge, but in the good way. Thank you so much for this.
I have put this game off for so long because it's not normally the type that I enjoy. I'm so glad that I gave it a go though, it was stunning. The story entraped me, I had to find out as much as I could in one sitting and it still left me wanting more. The art is beautiful and the voices for the characters really suit, which is fantastic. Alright, I have finished almost all the routes and Lu's route. My favorite character is still the Guide, but I think that Lu's route definitely contains the happiest options for Kikka and is best for her, even if I still ship Kikka and the Guide, deep down... >v> I'm going to assume that the (SPOILER ALERT!) fate of the relationship between the "certain race" and the other "certain race" is left to our own imagination, so I hope that everything goes well in the end. The Guide (and his route) was a little bit of a letdown in terms of romance, but I still like him a lot because he tries his best to do what is right in his opinion, and he's super intriguing as a character overall. His half-exasperated and half-emotionless personality is really funny to follow at times.
Anyhow, this was truly an amazing game, I loved it so much! It's one of the best visual novels I've played in a really long time. I really look forward to seeing more games in the future if that is what you have in mind! Thanks so much for "Lake of Voices" and everything it has to offer. :D

HOWEVER I'm am at my wits end trying to get the other two bonus endings, and I'm not sure if I romanced the guide right either. If you can just spell it out for me that would be great Lol. Thank you so much ^^! The last two bonus events are unlocked the same way. Here's a step-by-step guide (SPOILERS):
-On Night 1 let Bemelle die, save Margret and save Lu
-Romance Lu (spend time with just him whenever possible and always be kind/reassuring)
-At the beginning of Night 2 when the Guide is in trouble, don't do anything, just let the timer run out. This is a major choice that sets you on a new story branch. Finding that opens up a fair amount of new possibilities, so you may want to try going through that story route blind for the first time to avoid spoilers. Or feel free to follow the rest of the steps outlined below.
-Continue to romance Lu by letting him open up about himself
-Keep going and going no matter what happens
-When the guide goes to handle something on his own, have Kikka check on him
-And then continue on until the end of the game. There are one to two more choices that you'll get, but you can do whatever you want with those. Any of the four ending versions of that route will unlock the bonus events
The guide does have multiple endings, but none of them are great, aha. I can't say for sure if you romanced him properly or not because of that.

Can I ship them together? Lol It may be a... *ahem* Game Theory but it seems to me that The Guide is interested in Kikka and when you do certain things at certain places and he says certain things it ALMOST betrays his interests? I'm glad you like it! There are three endings for his route (SPOILERS): One where he comes back to help you but you don't chose to gain more affection through the remaining options, one where you get full affection and choose to listen to the Guide in the final timed choice of the route (that's the one where both of them fall into the lake), and one where you get full affection and chose not to the listen to the Guide during the final timed choice. The guide also has an ending that's sort of based around him in someone else's route. And it's only in that one ending that they both die.

My favourites are characters are still: Kikka and Margaret.
I still really like Kikka. She seems to be cold-hearted, quiet, calm and tough warrior focused on surviving but when you'll spend a little time with her, you realise she's very nice and caring person, too. "unexpectedly soft heart"
Margaret is very interesting person, too. Very cute. A little clumsy and attracting problems type. Someone who needs to be saved but also someone you want to save. She was a little bit harsg at the begenning of the story but her behavior changes a little bit later. She is acutally very nice and kind person. And her story is very good, too. Their little chit=chats were very funny and lovely.
The Lake of Voices is game of many choices, trial, interesting situations, sad moments and endings. It has very big replay ability. And I'll try to finish it again later but with other choices this time.
I finally got a happy ending, sorta! As happy as I could get in this game. That just really shows how well written this game is, as every choice you make is not good or bad. You just have to make a choice to survive, and that's a great aspect in a good game! Great job!

It's only a demo, but the demo has 13 different endings to find (all bad) and several 'to be continued' conclusions. It's got a very different tone than Lake of Voices, though we definitely think it's entertaining to go through.
Hello! I haven't played much of the game yet, but everything I have seen is wonderful. However, I believe I've found a problem. I'm on the second day when they're leaving the island (my party is Bemelle, Lu, and the Guide), and after I choose to fight my way through the Nix in order to make it to the bridge, there's a bit of dialogue and then it abruptly goes to the main menu. There isn't an end screen or anything, so I assume that's not supposed to happen. Is this a bug?
Thank you so much for the kind words! That is a bug and we just fixed it. If you delete your current game file and download the new version, it should be just fine . Although, your current save file might not be salvageable. The glitch came from the choice where the guide is in trouble on the shore and you can choose to watch, throw the lantern, or let the time run out. If you've saved passed that point, there's no way to fix the glitch in that save file. You'll have to load an early save or start a new file. I'm really sorry for the trouble!

Starting off, I was really impressed with quality of voice acting, art, and music. The lake's mysterious vibe definitely drew me in right off the bat.
I played Bemelle's story, then Margret's, then The Guide's, and finally Lu's. Frankly, I was a little disappointed by the Guide's storyline because I thought it would reveal the origin of the lake and some kind of disturbing backstory, and while it did reveal his "origin story," it didn't add as much depth to what the reader already knew from the beginning. At this point, I came to the conclusion that there must not have been any backstory beyond evil monsters killing people for fun and I was debating whether or not I should play Lu's route 'cuz I thought I had seen most of the dialogue and it was getting repetitive.
Let me say that romancing Lu and getting to see his true ending was the BEST DECISION I'VE EVER MADE ;____;
READERS, if you HAVEN'T seen Lu's true ending, YOU NEED TO SEE IT!!! My heart asdfgshjdggkl T___T Find yoself a man who looks at you the way Lu looks at Kikka. But play it last, because his route reveals the lake's backstory - SUPER, SUPER INTERESTING STUFF. Plus, you probably won't want to romance anyone after Lu because he's definitely best husband.
The bonus scenes made me laugh so hard, thank you so much for those! You have a lovely writing style and an incredible sense of humor.
Overall, I enjoyed the story very much, particularly Lu's route. I hope you keep creating awesome content! Thank you so much for the thrill <3

This was a wonderful visual novel, truly. Since the game isn't extremely long, I find myself being able to play it multiple times to explore the different endings. I've played twice, dying once and finishing with Lu and The Guide. Lu is a sweetheart and I have to try again to romance him! I'll definitely be checking out more of GBPatch's games.

Man, I wish there were more visual novels like this. The whole dimension of the plot and the characters really weighs in on you. You have no idea how frantic I was to save everyone, until I had to give up on the inevitable. Plus, that twist with the guide. Gives me the shivers.

god I played this forever ago and i still think about it, it left such a weirdly lasting impact on me that I can't explain, I romanced the guide my first time through and it was such a weirdly bittersweet thing that it stuck with me, sometimes I wished for a happier ending but I think that might be why i still think about it, because it was so heckin beautiful and it left me with a hole in my girly soul, the voice acting was great and honestly i love the horror/romance vibe, i wish it was more popular, not the spooky vampire stuff but genuine horror, like this, stuff that I really should not be playing at 2 in the morning but I do anyway because i'm irresponsible. Sorry i'm rambling a bit, i've recently been looking into more VNs of this genre and Lake of voices is the standard I keep comparing them all to, my weak heart can't take it ;~:

OMFG, those bonus scenes killed me XXDD Also, I know it isn't canon because Dour is an emotionally constipated bastard, but I choose to believe he's just really frickin bad at handling crushes hence him pushing Kikka away or killing her lol

I love this game, as much as it irks me to no end to feel so cheated for so many routes, and the bonus content is so on point I couldnt help but end smiling at the end. Was a nice remise from all of the deaths.
Srsly, I rly wanted everyone to live, but I think it feels fitting after all of the ends, to acknowledge how it goes.

Good luck! There are endings where the MC dies trying to help others, but either someone else has already died or it's so early in the story that it's pretty much inevitable that more people are going to die as the journey goes on, . The MC of this game is pretty important to have around. With her gone there isn't much hope for the others. The guide and just one other person, or possibly only the guide, will make it to the end. Though the MC won't be around to see it. I'm sorry it's such a downer, aha. Being that MC is a rough job.
Well that's quite unfortunate, haha. It will make the experience even more heartbreaking, knowing that I cannot sacrifice myself to save the rest. I'm sure this game will be quite the emotional rollercoaster, can't wait to play it!

I just finished Lu's route. This game absolutely blew my expectations out of the water and I honestly don't know if I'm really happy or mad at that ending, but I loved playing the game. I was really shocked at all that transpired and just thank you all for making this awesome game.

Aha, well, maybe? His route has two endings; one where you choose to listen to him right before reaching the shore and one where you decide it's better to not do that. Then there is a totally different route that has a choice option which gives a special guide-centric epilogue . Whether or not any of that is considered 'good' definitely depends on the player. I'm sorry he's such a difficult one.
Honestly, this game amazed me. The art is stunning and the voice acting was so spot on, really did set the mood. It kept me on edge, but in the good way. Thank you so much for this.

I have put this game off for so long because it's not normally the type that I enjoy. I'm so glad that I gave it a go though, it was stunning. The story entraped me, I had to find out as much as I could in one sitting and it still left me wanting more. The art is beautiful and the voices for the characters really suit, which is fantastic. Amazing game!

Alright, I have finished almost all the routes and Lu's route. My favorite character is still the Guide, but I think that Lu's route definitely contains the happiest options for Kikka and is best for her, even if I still ship Kikka and the Guide, deep down... >v> I'm going to assume that the (SPOILER ALERT!) fate of the relationship between the "certain race" and the other "certain race" is left to our own imagination, so I hope that everything goes well in the end. The Guide (and his route) was a little bit of a letdown in terms of romance, but I still like him a lot because he tries his best to do what is right in his opinion, and he's super intriguing as a character overall. His half-exasperated and half-emotionless personality is really funny to follow at times.
Anyhow, this was truly an amazing game, I loved it so much! It's one of the best visual novels I've played in a really long time. I really look forward to seeing more games in the future if that is what you have in mind! Thanks so much for "Lake of Voices" and everything it has to offer. :D

I love this game I really do! It wonderful and goregous and I'm so happy it was made. HOWEVER I'm am at my wits end trying to get the other two bonus endings, and I'm not sure if I romanced the guide right either. If you can just spell it out for me that would be great Lol. I read the hints I don't know what I'm doing wrong. *hugs all the creators*
Thank you so much ^^! The last two bonus events are unlocked the same way. Here's a step-by-step guide (SPOILERS):
-On Night 1 let Bemelle die, save Margret and save Lu
-Romance Lu (spend time with just him whenever possible and always be kind/reassuring)
-At the beginning of Night 2 when the Guide is in trouble, don't do anything, just let the timer run out. This is a major choice that sets you on a new story branch. Finding that opens up a fair amount of new possibilities, so you may want to try going through that story route blind for the first time to avoid spoilers. Or feel free to follow the rest of the steps outlined below.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Continue to romance Lu by letting him open up about himself
-Keep going and going no matter what happens
-When the guide goes to handle something on his own, have Kikka check on him
-And then continue on until the end of the game. There are one to two more choices that you'll get, but you can do whatever you want with those. Any of the four ending versions of that route will unlock the bonus events
The guide does have multiple endings, but none of them are great, aha. I can't say for sure if you romanced him properly or not because of that.

I'm glad you like it! There are three endings for his route (SPOILERS): One where he comes back to help you but you don't chose to gain more affection through the remaining options, one where you get full affection and choose to listen to the Guide in the final timed choice of the route (that's the one where both of them fall into the lake), and one where you get full affection and chose not to the listen to the Guide during the final timed choice. The guide also has an ending that's sort of based around him in someone else's route. And it's only in that one ending that they both die.

My opinion about the game haven't change much ... I still think it's great! Everything is as great as in demo (and even better) plus it's full and long game ♥
My favourites are characters are still: Kikka and Margaret.
I still really like Kikka. She seems to be cold-hearted, quiet, calm and tough warrior focused on surviving but when you'll spend a little time with her, you realise she's very nice and caring person, too. "unexpectedly soft heart"
Margaret is very interesting person, too. Very cute. A little clumsy and attracting problems type. Someone who needs to be saved but also someone you want to save.
She was a little bit harsg at the begenning of the story but her behavior changes a little bit later. She is acutally very nice and kind person. And her story is very good, too.
Their little chit=chats were very funny and lovely.
The Lake of Voices is game of many choices, trial, interesting situations, sad moments and endings. It has very big replay ability. And I'll try to finish it again later but with other choices this time.

I finally got a happy ending, sorta! As happy as I could get in this game. That just really shows how well written this game is, as every choice you make is not good or bad. You just have to make a choice to survive, and that's a great aspect in a good game! Great job!

Hello! I haven't played much of the game yet, but everything I have seen is wonderful. However, I believe I've found a problem. I'm on the second day when they're leaving the island (my party is Bemelle, Lu, and the Guide), and after I choose to fight my way through the Nix in order to make it to the bridge, there's a bit of dialogue and then it abruptly goes to the main menu. There isn't an end screen or anything, so I assume that's not supposed to happen. Is this a bug?
Thank you so much for the kind words! That is a bug and we just fixed it. If you delete your current game file and download the new version, it should be just fine . Although, your current save file might not be salvageable. The glitch came from the choice where the guide is in trouble on the shore and you can choose to watch, throw the lantern, or let the time run out. If you've saved passed that point, there's no way to fix the glitch in that save file. You'll have to load an early save or start a new file. I'm really sorry for the trouble!

Starting off, I was really impressed with quality of voice acting, art, and music. The lake's mysterious vibe definitely drew me in right off the bat.
I played Bemelle's story, then Margret's, then The Guide's, and finally Lu's. Frankly, I was a little disappointed by the Guide's storyline because I thought it would reveal the origin of the lake and some kind of disturbing backstory, and while it did reveal his "origin story," it didn't add as much depth to what the reader already knew from the beginning. At this point, I came to the conclusion that there must not have been any backstory beyond evil monsters killing people for fun and I was debating whether or not I should play Lu's route 'cuz I thought I had seen most of the dialogue and it was getting repetitive.
Let me say that romancing Lu and getting to see his true ending was the BEST DECISION I'VE EVER MADE ;____;
READERS, if you HAVEN'T seen Lu's true ending, YOU NEED TO SEE IT!!! My heart asdfgshjdggkl T___T Find yoself a man who looks at you the way Lu looks at Kikka. But play it last, because his route reveals the lake's backstory - SUPER, SUPER INTERESTING STUFF. Plus, you probably won't want to romance anyone after Lu because he's definitely best husband.
The bonus scenes made me laugh so hard, thank you so much for those! You have a lovely writing style and an incredible sense of humor.
