To update on Itch you'll need to delete the old version of the game and download the new base build/any DLCs you own.

So I can re-download one through three(I want to replay since I'll be able to do DLC's now) and step four would start after?

Hello!
I love playing the game but I cannot get Step 4 to activate. I own all the DLC's and I have reinstalled the game a handful of times now (as well as starting the game over from the beginning). I know that Step 4 *should* start after the credits at the end of Step 3, but all it does is bring me back to the main menu.
Are there any menus or dialogue options that I am missing to be able to get Step 4 to activate?
I tried looking online for any solutions but the only ones I've been seeing involve uninstalling the game and then reinstalling it. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
(My version of the game is downloaded through Steam)
I'm sorry for the trouble. Steam can finicky and we did have to update it a few times in a row to fix somethings when Step 4 launched which can confuse it. Can you try uninstalling the game, clearing your download/upload cache, and then try reinstalling? Sometimes that gets Steam to notice there's more to update. Waiting a few days and then uninstalling/reinstalling can also sometimes get it to go away.
You could also download the free main game here from Itch just to try it out and see if Step 4 works for you when you get that build.
I tried what you recommended and it seems to still not be working on Steam. The game has been uninstalled, cache cleared, and then reinstalled many times on different laptops with completely new characters/save files but no matter how long I left it uninstalled, it still wouldn't work (i even tried waiting 10 days to see if it would work, but it didn't).
I'm afraid that my steam version may just be completely broken and will never let me access the 4th step. The elusiveness of the final step and just the fact that the game is so well done is going bring me to play it on itch so i can finally experience the game fully.

Hi! Is it just me? I can't seem to find the epilogue - I've downloaded it twice now..
The epilogue happens after the ending credits sequence in Step 3, so the game seems like it's gonna end but then it doesn't!
I decided to try being indifferent the entire game, and in Step 4 after seeing poppy hill populated with fireflies, my single-bed hotel room suddenly became a double.

Hopefully this is far enough down for a spoiler, but I just thought it was cool, first I have a beauty mark in the same place as Baxter, and then to find out Cove was demisexual and on the autism spectrum like me was even cooler. Can't wait for the rest of the DLCs. ^-^
I WAS SO HAPPY at the ending! And then it ended! I dont know wheter to be sad or happy! I love this game.

I'm having an error in both the PC version and the Android version
In the PC one it tells me that it can't be opened because of one driver that it's not working and i'm unable to find how to fix it.
In the Android one, it gets stuck in a Loading Screen.
im having an error. this keeps popping up no matter what option i pick and eventually it just stopped letting me pick options.

Ok, first, the final cg of holding Cove's hand at the beach was missing the line art for Cove's hand. Only bug I found.
(possible, but attempted vague spoilers if you haven't played final chapter 4)
Otherwise...that was the best. I kinda wish and hope and in my head believe that Cove and my Hunter eventually move into their own place at Sunset Bird. I'm the type that prefers to live close to family, and I really wanted that.
I also love that my Hunter has continued their interesting friendship with Jeremy. lol. Regardless of his protests about the term 'friendship'. And I love how much choice I got for how to propose to Cove, including the fact that Hunter got to do so at poppy hill where they first laid eyes on each other. That was just perfect.
It would have been nice if I could have asked Cliff permission to marry Cove, but that's ok that it wasn't an option. And I love how the evolution of Liz and my Hunter went...from being typical bratty siblings to eventual teasing each other but being there for them and loving them at the end. Most true to life sibling interaction I've seen in a game.
And is it sad I imagined that Cove has his pet fish and Hunter adopted a cat, and now we have fish and cat in the same household? xP
Finally, I was happy I could start a sport industry business. I kept wondering what Hunter would be as an adult, since I always imagined him as the big sports type doing basketball in high school. I kinda wanted him to either go on to open some sort of sports/beach store with Cove or be a PE teacher. lol
*sigh* I'm sad its over. I look forward to the wedding dlc, the dlc for romancing Derek, and I hope maybe someday we could get dlc bits of life with Cove. Ugh, I don't want it to end. T_T
Sorry, but where is the wedding story, i thought it'll be in step 4? I was your patron once and i remember wedding ceremony was in development. Will it be patreon-only or dlc?
It's a DLC that's just not done yet. But it will happen!
I'm a bit confused, do I have to move the files of the DLCs from the 1.3 build to the 1.4 or is it automatically in there if that makes sense
You'll have to download the DLC files again and add them to the 1.4 build. Sorry for the trouble with that.
I'm on Android 11 and the game keeps crashing and closing on me I can't play the game at all plz fix I so won't to know what happens ππ
Can you give more details on the error? I'm afraid I don't know why that might be happening.
it just won't start I load and it don't work then I start a new game then the app close on me I think the auto save is what the problem is on Android 11 coz the game worked fine before that plz can you have a look and try to fix coz your game is awesome nothing but love for your team

I just finished the step 4 and I must say: I never had cried so hard because of a game. I didn't cry because of the story, I cried because I noticed this is almost over. I never had played a game with such amazing mechanics, like you can make your mc the way want, not only physically but also on personality. I don't know if the the OL 2 will be that good like the first game, but I definitely will play it. Oh and I sure will play the wedding dlc. =,3

You just need to install the full game, but I don't know if the old saves work with the new version
Can confirm that they do work with the new version. If you have the dlcs, you'll have to re-add them to the game folder.
Why is there no link for step 4? I've looked on every part of this games page and I can't find it. Someone please help!

I just finished playing my first playthrough of Step 4, and I was grinning the whole time. Thank you for making this game. Can't wait for the DLCs.
NO BECAUSE I'M GOING TO UGLY CRY???? i can't wait to download this and play it, but at the same time, i don't think i'm emotionally ready for this to end... cove (my beloved) and this game is honestly such a huge comfort for me, and i cannot tell you the sheer number of times i've played and replayed it, because it's really way too much to count. and yet, every single playthrough still made me smile and tear up and even laugh out loud. it's absolutely insane just how every game you guys create ends up being one of my top favourites, but none more than this one. it's just the right amount of everything, from big things pronouns and understanding your identity as you grow, to the tiniest details like even the option to add acne to your character, it's just...insane. in short: i love this game and i love you, everyone who's worked on it. thank you for giving me some of the funnest moments of my life.
