The concept for this game is very unique and different to anything I have seen before, it had me captivated from the beginning. The characters are very well designed and Cove is just so cute!! (I love them all though!!) It's really awesome how your decisions can impact your own personality as well as Cove's. I am glad that there is customization of the MC, too. I also felt as if I were actually in the game while playing it! I really enjoyed the demo and I am extremely excited for the full version! :)

(+1)

I'm really happy you feel that way! We were really hoping the game would feel interactive and immersive. Hopefully we'll be able to pull things off with the finished version.

Thank you <3

(+2)

Man, even the demo is already captivating! This is amazing, a new type for me. I really like it. Thank you for all your hardwork. I will wait patiently for the full game.

Thanks very much! We'll do our best to make it worth the wait ^^

(+2)

Thank you so much for making this game. This is one of the best games ive ever came across. Even if i have no spared money to help to suport you i will defenetly recomend this game always. Thank you wonderful people!

Aw, that's so kind of you to say ;v;. Sharing the game is definitely very helpful and the standard version of the finished game will be free, so it'll be playable for everybody!

(+2)

Hello~ I made an account just to say that I really enjoyed this game. I look forward and will help support the development of this game I really enjoyed the concept and the story :)

Aw, thank you <3 <3. That's so sweet of you to do!

Hay, I was wondering, will there be more options for the Cove creator? or is it going to stay the same?

(2 edits) (+3)

There won't be any new additions! Every alteration on the screen needs to be added not just to the Cove character sprite, but also as a layer in the game's CGs (full screen images). There's quite a few CGs, so even one new option for Cove is a big thing to get done. Plus, we want Cove's development to feel natural and within the bounds of who he is as a character. If we added more and more ways for him to look, it'd be very easy for Cove to start losing his sense of identity.

I see. That makes sense, thanks for answering, keep up the excellent work! :)

No problem!

(+1)

Hello! Me again! xD

Small question I had as I started the newest version of the demo: will be be able to change the mouth of our character in the editor? It always shows a smile, but I have a couple of characters that aren't big on smiling, so I always wonder if it'll be possible to change the expression.

It's not a huge deal, obviously, but it's something I was curious about. ^_^

(+2)

I'm afraid we can't add expression alterations on that screen because the expression picked out by the player will just get changed once you reach the Relationship Customization screen. Hopefully it seeing the temporary expression on that first screen won't be too much of a bother.

(+1)

Upon completion will there be an option to buy the full game in one payment? I could afford a big lump sum but month subscription isn't really an option right now.

(+1)

Our Life will release as a free game with optional paid DLCs. The DLCs will be one-time purchases and there will also be the option to get them grouped in a bundle.

The monthly subscription is just for people who don't wanna wait for the full release ^^.

(+2)

aaaa I love this game so so much! Every character seems so real and I can relate to a lot of their stories/behaviours. Can't wait 'till the release!❤

(+1)

Thank you so much ;v;!!

(+4)

I've been meaning to play it for a while now and today I finally downloaded it and played it. It felt like I was actually there and experiencing the things and making memories with Cove and the others. Everyone's so precious 💖

Cutie pies

I'm in love with Cove 💕

Aw, I'm really happy to hear that <3. Thank you!

(+2)

I'll sound dumb but I wanted to ask- so the newest update isn't on Android, right? just on pc?

(+3)

Not yet. Right now you have available windows, mac and linux. They said that android its coming soon (So maybe will take some more time)

(+1)(-1)

ahh, i see thanks! ^^

(+1)

Yeah, the Android version always takes a little longer, unfortunately. We'll try to get it out soon!

(+4)

Just played the new updated demo and *mwah* even better than before. I can not wait for it to be fully released. I'm even considering buying the DLC which I usually don't do, even for my favourite games. The game so far is literally perfect. Cove is precious as hell.

(+1)

Thank you so much! It's wonderful to hear that you're so invested the game and Cove ^^.

(+6)

I'm really into Cove~~~

;)

(+8)

I love love love this game!! I seriously keep finding excuses to replay the demo please help

I do have a question about the release date? On steam it says September while on itch.io it says Summer 2020? :0 I'm plenty happy waiting for the game to be it's best, but I really would like to know when to expect it gotta clear my schedule. And the DLC comes out on release day too, correct? At least for Cove's extra moments? Thank you!!

(1 edit) (+1)

:D! Thank you. I'm so glad the demo has replay value for you.

The month of September is when summer officially ends where we are, so that's the latest month the game will potentially come out in. We'll announce the exact release day soon! And yeah, three Cove DLCs will also be available on launch.

(+1)

I downloaded this game a while ago,, and I can't say how excited I am for the release! It's probably, if not, the best game I've tried out here. Keep up the great work!

That's so sweet of you to say! Thank you <3

(1 edit) (+2)

I swear to God that this game makes me nostaligc about a past romance and about an old childhood friend I never had.

I can´t wait for it to be released and completed! I love the fact that this game is so inmersive that it literally reminds me of my summer`s childhood and it makes me cry so hard becuase I miss being that age...

This game is just wonderful. You are a doing a great job. Please, keep up the good work because we are totally cheering for you and your team! Thank you for this <3

(+2)

Besides, why is everyone so damn cute in this game? I be cheating on my boyfriend with this game, I swear-

Thank you so much ;v;. We really tried our best to capture those pleasant summertime feels and I'm thrilled that they came across for you.

Also, yes, the sprite artist is too good at making everyone cute, haha.

(+4)

This is one of my favorite games on this site (and in general). I love how the choiches affect the story and the ability to customize your character. This is one of the first games I found on Itch.io and the big reason I created my account. I can't wait until the game is finished and would (when I have the money) buy the DLC for this game.

10/10 I just can't describe with words how much I love this game! Keep up the good work GBPatch!

P.S. I have already replayed the game multiple times, which is very rare for me to do.

Thank you <3 <3! It's fantastic to know that the game is worth replaying for you. We'll do our very best with the finished version.

(+3)

i made an account just to leave a comment on this, i cant wait until the full game is out, thank you for your hard work!!

Aw, I'm so glad you enjoyed it that much ^^! Thank you for the comment.

(+2)

i have been replaying the demo since the start of the year and love it so much! <3 cant wait for the full release :) keep up the good work!!<3

Aw, that's wonderful. I'm happy it's worth replaying :D. We'll do our best with the rest of the game.

(+2)

This game is so cute! I absolutely love the art style! I can't wait until the full game is out :3

(+1)

Thank you very much :D

Deleted 310 days ago

Thank you <3

(+4)

This is a super cool idea! Can't wait for it to be fully released!

(+1)

Thank you ^^!

(+1)

I must say, this demo is amazing! I love that I chose to be a girl called Marina, then picked the option to say "Wow. Cove's dad is obsessed with water!" XD. I also love that I chose for her to have blue hair and yellow eyes (like the sea and sun; I love my symbolism) and Cove so happened to say he likes blue and yellow. Coincidence? (I hope not!)

I adore the exploration of the various stages of a relationship and the lasting inpact you can have on a person; those themes haven't been represented in such depth in games before. It's great that Cove remembers what you tell him too, very sweet. ("I thought you couldn't own a hill." I'm such a great influence! :D)

I loved going from childhood friendship to awkward teen crush, so cute! I was hoping to get him to open up more; I made sure to be extroverted, but he still seemed to be quite shy. I think I was too nice and not rebellious enough the first time. Figuring out the mystery behind how your choices affect Cove makes for great replayability, and it's exciting to see the various versions of him and his personality come into effect.

I was wondering will the soundtrack and artbook be available to purchase once the game launches or are they only available through becoming a patron? I was thinking about becoming one anyway because I'd love to play the beta and support this amazing project. Looking forward to this, as well as Now and Forever too. Couldn't recommend it enough, thank you so much for making this! :D

(+1)

Wow, thank you very much for all the kind words!

The artbook and soundtrack will be available after the game releases. But right now they're not available through any means, including the Patreon. But the Patreon does have the beta and sneak peeks into what we're working on. I appreciate the interest in supporting us. Thank you again <3

Hopefully this pandemic doesn't postpone the release

(+1)

We'll do our best! So far we're still on track to release it at the end of summer :).

(+1)

Thats good news

(+1)

I loved the demo for this game. I can't wait until the full thing releases. Such a cute game.

Having the love interest change based on our decisions is such a neat mechanic, I don't know of any other games that do this. I can already tell this game will be a release day purchase for all the dlc's.

Thank you so much for all of that! It's great to hear you enjoyed the content and appreciate the concept :D

(+1)

I'm really excited for the finished game! I played the first demo the day it came out last year and I was really pleased with it! From that point on I have been playing it over and over again. I seriously can't get enough of it! The idea behind it, the story, the characters, the artwork, everything is spot-on! I'm not one to buy games, but I certainly will pay for this one! About that, I have a quick question: could you give me an estimate of how much the finished game along with all the DLCs is going to cost? I'm curious, though it doesn't really matter that much since I'll be buying it either way. Thank you very much for your hard work! <3

(+2)

Thank you! I really appreciate you giving it a try and then replaying it and wanting to support it. That's so nice <3.

Getting the DLCs that unlock all the Moments listed for the main Steps will be around $12USD. Getting all the DLCs we have planned, including the ones that add new love interests and stuff outside the normal Moments will be around $25USD. But that's at full price. There will be sales and bundle discounts to reduce the amount.

(+1)

Thank you!<3

(+1)

i always seem to come back to this demo to see the recent updates and i'm so excited to see that a beta has been released(i'm going to probably play through it tomorrow)!! i hope you guys actually do reopen the voiced name entries because i have a feeling nobody has the name kaya lol. i just know this game will come out beautiful though! ♥ ♥ ♥

Aw, thank you! Yeah, I checked the list and "Kaya" isn't an option currently. I'm sorry. But we'll definitely try our best to make it available somehow at least once more time. It's just tricky to do because the name has to be done for multiple time periods in different voices. aha.

sooo can I still donate to get my name (voiced) into the game? :> Cus I've seen Mary on some of the screenshots, but not Maria, and it's kind of a big difference for me haha... (also if somehow Maria is already on the list of voiced names, I'll just go and subscribe to your patreon ^^)

Thank you for taking an interest in that and wanting to support us! Unfortunately, we're not adding more names currently. We might reopen it up on a small scale at some point or do a giveaway with that as a prize. But for now it's not possible to get a brand new name added. However, I can tell you that "Maria" is already one of the names that's been done, you can expect to see it when the Voiced Name feature is fully released ^^.

(+1)

Thank you!! <3 I now have all the reasons to subscribe to your Patreon for the sweet beta version ( AND especially since the last goal is soooo tempting!)

Thanks so much ;v;. And agreed, haha. I hope we reach that goal.

Will game cost any money or it will be free?

It will be free with optional paid DLCs ^^

Do you intend to translate the game into other languages? for example ... for portuguese? if so let me know =)

I'm sorry, we aren't able to consider translating it right now. Maybe at some point in the future we'll be in a position to try translating it!

(+2)

I love this game SO much! I can't wait until the full release! :D

Thank you so much ❤

(+1)

You're welcome! 💕

(+2)

So in my last playthrough, in version 2.0, I got Cove to be athletic, and now in my newest playthrough, I got Cove to be academic. I played both playthroughs about the same. Any idea on how it happened? And if there's any way to know the outcome of my choices in that sense? I really want to get athletic Cove once again (what could be better than a cute and shy athlete??). Thanks in advance!

(+1)

There was some retooling to the point system in the update. The tweaks made, plus all the new opportunities to influence Cove in the new content, means that it is possible to get a different result than before.

But there will be further changes and chances to influence him in the future, so it's not over for your shy athlete yet!

The full game will also have a Cove Creator where you can just directly pick his traits. How choices impact him will remain a bit of an enigma, though.

(+2)

Thanks for the explanation!

(+1)

No problem!

I needed to ask this because I can't get patreon, is the beta ever going to be on itch.io?

The beta won't be available here, I'm sorry to say, To get it on Itch, players will have to wait until we release the completed version this summer.

(+1)

Oh! Just to ask after reading this comment, is that the hesitant date that you guys think Our Life will be finished around?

Yeah, we hope to have Steps 1-3 of Our Life and some of the DLCs out by summer (August or September) and then more DLCs/Step 4 will be released over time.

(+1)

Okay, thank you for clarifying!

No problem :D

(+4)

Aha, I just realised that the Shiloh in this game is the one from XOXO droplets! now i feel kind of stupid because i've been playing xoxo droplets the entire day LOL keep up the good work!

(+5)

Yep! Both Shiloh and Jeremy make appearances in this game so far (my two favorite characters from XOXO Droplets, though I'm ashamed to admit I didn't recognize Jeremy when he showed up here).

(+1)

Aw, I'm happy to hear you like those boys ^^! And I think most people would barely recognize Jeremy if they saw him as a kid, haha.

(+1)

omg, i didn't even think about the fact that that was Jeremy. his hairstyle was so familiar, but I just kept thinking of Cove. i guess he barely changed in personality but he really upgraded from that bowl cut.

(+1)

Actually, the main reason I didn't recognize him was his personality changed so much. I was used to him being 'Whatever, I don't care' in XOXO Droplets, so seeing him as an insufferable angry twerp here was pretty jarring. It's nice to see how he's grown, though. xD

Jeremy has had a lot of personality development. Not sure if it's better, but it's definitely different, haha.

(+1)

Well, I for one definitely like the older Jeremy better! xD

Yeah, he's really come a long way with his look, haha.

Haha, it's understandable. It's pretty unexpected to have a sudden cross-over like that. Thank you for the nice message :D

(1 edit) (+1)

Yes, I love all the new little additions and changes to the demo. I imagine my Hunter as the smiling, playful, friendly basketball boy that's popular but totally snaps if someone tries to hurt Cove. Aka, thank you for the mean boy moment. My Hunter was ready to throw down on that kid! Thank god for cooler headed Derek and Cove. Definitely a perfect moment for my head-cannon. Hopefully there's more chances for that in the final version (or keep that moment in the final, cause yes...totally imagining Derek and Cove restraining my hothead as he yells threats at bowl-cut boy). xD

Hopefully since its a demo, not all the voiced names are in. Cause I didn't see Hunter on the list. But it IS the demo. =P

God, why must the wait be so painful? This is really turning into a great gem and Cove is forever best boy. Thank you guys so much for this game and the effort you are putting into it. Stay safe and healthy!

(+1)

Nice to hear the new options are going over well! Hunter seems great, haha.

There's gonna be around 700 names in the full version. We just don't want to make the demo download really big so brand new players don't pass over it. The complete version will have the voiced name feature as a free DLC, again to keep the regular download from being extra large. Also, I checked the full list and Hunter is one of the options~

Thank you for the kind words <3

(1 edit) (+1)

Sweet. I figured as much, but I confess that I did check my kickstarter to make sure I'd done the survey right. ^^'

Yeah, I loved all the small new details and added script. Even Derek is pretty adorable and meshes almost perfectly with my Hunter and Cove. And yeah, you don't bully Cove. Hunter became his knight the moment they first met on the hilltop. (cause I just find the idea of antisocial Cove being hugged and dragged around everywhere by my OC just adorable for that age. Also yelling stranger danger at his dad. xD)

Thank you guys again for this wonderful game. <3

Haha, yeah, it should be all good with the name.

And that's really sweet that your MC takes care of Cove. Thank you for all the support :D

Thank you for the report! We uploaded a new Mac build that should hopefully fix the error. You'll likely need to start a new file and not reload the one you currently have, unfortunately.

(+1)

Thanks!

(+5)

This may be the biggest game I'm anticipating for 2020!! I played the demo a while back and I immediately adored it. GBPatch never ceases to amaze me!! Thank you for your hard work at such an amazing game, GBPatch!

Aw, thank you for saying that! We're thrilled to hear you're looking forward to the game. We'll keeping working away at it to get it finished for everybody ^^

Hello there! I'm really looking forward to the game. I just have to ask; how much will the DLCs cost?

(+2)

The DLCs will cost between $3-$5USD each, depending on what type of DLC it is. The most expensive DLCs are the ones that add an additional romance story with a different character (Derek or Baxter), the less expensive ones just unlock more content with Cove.

(+1)

Small typo found on the latest version, during the Firefly event:

"(Name) is just mad ecause I always catch the most."

It's missing a b, and the e has the umlauts (two dots over it) instead.

Thank you for the report! We'll fix it for future builds :D

When I was playing this kept popping up whenever I had to choose some dialog when talking to Lee. Not sure if someone else had already brought it up, but just shedding some light to this error.

Thanks for the report! It's already been fixed ^^. Please download the current file or, if you prefer, you can get through the scene in the current file by turning animations off on the config screen.

Hi, GBPatch devs! I absolutely adore your work and can't wait for the full game! I just downloaded the updated demo but the section with Lee is causing me some problems. It keeps throwing an exception error and I'm not sure if the problem is on my end or if it's an issue in the demo. Here's the message it keeps displaying, hope you guys can look over.

I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

While loading <'Image' u'images/characters/Lee_13_cut/Expressions/cl_eyes1.png'>:
